Three types of road centre-line markings and their meaning: 1. Broken white line: Overtaking is generally permitted when the road ahead is clear and it is safe to do so. 🛣 2. Solid + broken line: Overtaking may be permitted only from the side with the broken line, provided it is safe. 3. Double solid line: Do not overtake. Crossing the centre lines is prohibited because the section is considered unsafe for overtaking. Highway Engineering point: Road markings are traffic-control measures designed to regulate vehicle movement and improve road safety, lane discipline, and traffic flow. @eagleng

📌Basic Construction Tips Every Fresher Civil Engineer Should Know! 👇🏼 Starting your civil engineering career? Don’t just learn from textbooks—learn from drawings, site execution, quality checks, safety and real field experience. 1. Read the drawings before starting work — never execute from assumptions. 2. Understand the latest revision of structural, architectural and MEP drawings. 3. Check levels and dimensions before excavation, formwork and concrete. 4. Verify reinforcement — diameter, spacing, number of bars, laps, cover and anchorage. 5. Check formwork for line, level, alignment, dimensions and stability. 6. Never pour concrete without pre-pour inspection. 7. Check concrete workability and ensure proper placement and compaction. 8. Maintain proper curing as specified for the concrete and project requirements. 9. Check material quality before accepting cement, steel, aggregates, blocks, etc. 10. Record quantities daily — don’t depend on memory. 11. Maintain DPR/site records with manpower, equipment, quantities and activities. 12. Learn basic surveying — benchmark, RL, auto level/laser level and total station basics. 13. Understand BBS — bar mark, diameter, cutting length, shape and quantity. 14. Monitor wastage of steel, concrete, cement, blocks and other materials. 15. Follow the method statement and ITP for each major activity. 16. Raise an RFI/inspection request whenever clarification or approval is required. 17. Never hide mistakes — report them early; small problems become expensive later. 18. Coordinate with other trades before closing or concreting an area. 19. Follow HSE requirements — PPE, permits, access, lifting and work-at-height controls. 20. Learn from experienced engineers and supervisors — field experience is invaluable. 21. Understand the specification, BOQ and contract requirements, not just drawings. 22. Take photographs of important work stages for records and progress tracking. 23. Check completed work against drawings before handing it over. 24. Learn Excel, AutoCAD and project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera. 25. Keep a personal site notebook — record dimensions, observations, lessons and common mistakes. @eagleng
