FED DECISION: WHAT TO WATCH
The Federal Reserve is widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged within the 3.50%–3.75% range. However, financial markets continue to price in roughly a one-in-three chance of a surprise rate hike.
The spotlight will be on Chairman Kevin Warsh’s post-meeting remarks, as rising oil prices continue to intensify inflation concerns despite the softer-than-expected June CPI reading.
Market expectations remain divided. Morgan Stanley anticipates no additional rate hikes this year, while Bank of America (BofA) believes the Federal Reserve could begin tightening monetary policy as early as September if inflation risks continue to build.
