በተመራቂ ተማሪዎች የተሠሩ ሶፍትዌር ፕሮጀክቶች ኤግዝቢሽን ተካሄደ በአርባ ምንጭ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ቴክኖሎጂ ኢንስቲትዩት በኮምፕዩተር ሳይንስና ሶፍትዌር ምኅንድስና ፋከልቲ አዘጋጅነት በተመራቂ ተማሪዎች የተሠሩ የተለያዩ የሶፍትዌር ፕሮጀክቶች ኤግዝቢሽን ሰኔ 12/2016 ዓ/ም ተካሂዷል፡፡ የቤተ-መጻሕፍትና መረጃ አገልግሎት ዳይሬክቶሬት ዳይሬክተር ዶ/ር መሳይ ሳሙኤል በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው መሰል ኤግዚቢሽን ከዚህ ቀደም በኮሮና ምክንያት ከመቋረጡ በፊት በየዓመቱ ሲደረግ እንደነበር አስታውሰዋል፡፡ እንደ ዳይሬክተሩ ገለፃ በተመራቂ ተማሪዎችና በሌሎችም የተሠሩትን ሶፍትዌሮች መመልከት፣ ሥራዎችን ማድነቅ፣ መጠየቅ፣ ግንዛቤ መውሰድና ማበረታታት ይገባልም ብለዋል፡፡ የኮምፕዩተር ሳይንስና ሶፍትዌር ምኅንድስና ፋከልቲ ዲን ረ/ፕ/ር ጌታሁን ትዕግስቱ ፕሮግራሙ በተመራቂ ተማሪዎች የተሠሩ የተለያዩ ፕሮጀክቶች ለዩኒቨርሲቲው ማኅበረሰብ የሚተዋወቁበት፣ መምህራን ተማሪዎቻቸውን የሚደግፉበት እንዲሁም ተማሪዎች እርስ በእርስ ይበልጥ የሚደጋገፉበትና ይበልጥ የሚማማሩበት መድረክ መሆኑን አውስተዋል፡፡ የፋከልቲው መምህር ፕ/ር ዲፒ ሻርማ/Prof. D.P. AMU in Collaboration with CYU hosted Three Day International Training on Geothermal Advances and Expertise Arba Minch University (AMU) from Ethiopia along with CY Cergy Paris University (CYU) from France co-hosted three day training on geothermal energy from June 5th -7th, 2024, in AMU Main Campus. Staff from the fields of water technology, engineering, and geology gathered for the training aimed to equip participants with scientific knowledge and practical skills crucial for the exploration and utilization of geothermal resources. Dr. Alemayehu Chufamo, AMU's Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasizing on the importance of the training, said, diversifying Ethiopia's energy sources will have significant contribution to economic growth tackling unemployment and creating a reliable and sustainable energy for the future. Ethiopia has immense potential of geothermal energy, he underlined. Dr. Demelash Wondimagegnehu, Vice Scientific Director of Arba Minch Water Technology Institute/AWTI/ and coordinator of the training, giving a lowdown on it explained that building geothermal knowledge and expertise among Ethiopian academia, revising curricula and strategies will pave the way for a thriving renewable energy sector in the country. He also briefed that the training covered of topics from geothermal energy exploration techniques and power plant operations. R. Absi, a trainer from CY Cergy Paris University, focused on providing participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to delve into geothermal energy concepts and practices. Dr. Leulalem Shano, Head of the Department of Geology at AMU, lauded that the training will be an invaluable step towards building local expertise and developing a comprehensive curricula for future geothermal courses at AMU. Harnessing Ethiopia's vast geothermal potential to create a sustainable energy landscape is so important, he stressed. The training co-hosting has been a part of a two-year academic cooperation Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) between AMU and CY Cergy Paris University, signed in October 2023; it aimed to provide students with training in geothermal exploration and promote joint research initiatives. AMU held a Three Day Training on Teaching Principles and Tips for Career Success AMU along with U.S based English Language Fellow group has organized a three-day training on teaching principles and tips for career success for instructors of the university from 5th to 7th June, 2024, at Main Campus. Dr. Melanie Porter, an English Language Fellow in AMU and the organizer of the event, said, my primary objective is encouraging the proficiency of English Language for both instructors and students and the ultimate goal of the training is exposure: creating chance where to get information, access information and share and apply it in their career. Offering information available on American Resources for Teachers and Students is helpful to qualify in their study purposes, job opportunities, and access to different data bases, she added. Furthermore, she said this training is important not only for English teachers but also for all instructors and students to improve their career and look for other opportunities.
