Do you make an agreement Lawful by Court Stamping? Published by SabiLaw Often people take their agreements to court staff, Commissioners of Oath, Magistrates, Notaries Public and Judges for them to be signed. Such persons believe that having the above listed persons sign their agreements make their agreements valid (and “more powerful“). Even some lawyers charge clients to provide such services. Well, what does the law say about this? Is the practice a waste of resources? What makes agreements valid? Use and Demand for Foreign Currency in Nigeria is a Crime. Published by SabiLaw The only allowed currency in Nigeria is Naira. It is an offence for any person(Nigerian or Foreigner), business, professional, school, church, hotel, company, consultant, agency or group, etc (whether locally or internationally owned) to pay, offer, demand, receive or use any currency other than the Naira in Nigeria. However, there are exemptions that can be granted by the government. Which government agency can grant the exemption, and why? The Dangote IPO Meme Explosion: Dangote Refinery, Shareholding, and the Limits of Owning a Public Company under Nigerian Law. By Boroh Alexander Oghenevwede Introduction  Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s public offer opened on 14 September 2026 at ₦525 a share, with a minimum subscription of ten shares for ₦5,250, and closes on 13 October 2026.[1] True to our nature, Nigerians turned a serious capital-raising exercise into a meme festival: mock ownership certificates circulated online, jokes demanded a “board meeting” over a tanker parked by the roadside, and social media users addressed Aliko Dangote as “my partner,” treating a ₦5,250 subscription as though it were a personal partnership with the man himself.[2] The humour works because it... Stripping Suspects Naked is a Crime in Nigeria. Published by SabiLaw Across Nigeria, most persons (suspects) upon being arrested and detained are forced by the arresting officers to remove their clothes, belts, shoes, phones, wrist watches and other personal belongings. Most suspects are detained in police stations naked (barely wearing a short/pant, if any). Where a suspect is fortunate, he is offered his own trousers but to wear it inside-out. How lawful is this practice? What are the rights of arrested persons? What actions can be taken against the arresting officers and agencies? What remedies awaits the victims?
