| 3 | Electoral Act, 2026
The Electoral Act, 2026 (Act No. 1 of 2026) was enacted by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 18 February 2026. The Act repeals the Electoral Act, No. 13, 2022 and provides a legal framework for regulating the conduct of federal, State and Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, and for related matters.
The Act provides for the establishment and functions of the Independent National Electoral Commission, registration of voters, the conduct and administration of elections, political parties, electoral offences, and the determination of election petitions. It also contains provisions relating to Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory and other matters connected with the electoral process.

The cessation of petroleum production does not necessarily mark the end of petroleum operations. Although the productive life of a petroleum field may have come to an end, wells, pipelines, installations, structures and other facilities may remain in place, together with debris, waste materials and other remnants of petroleum operations. Their continued presence may give rise to environmental, safety and financial risks, particularly where such assets are inadequately secured, removed or remediated.
