The Evidence Act, 2011 is Nigeria's principal legislation governing the admissibility, relevance, production, and evaluation of evidence in judicial proceedings. The Act was enacted as Act No. 18 of 2011 and came into force on 3 June 2011. It repealed the former Evidence Act, Cap. E14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and introduced a modern evidentiary framework applicable to all judicial proceedings before courts in Nigeria. The Act contains 259 sections arranged into 16 Parts.

The Arbitration and Mediation Act, 2023 is an Act that repealed the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Cap. A18, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and enacted a modern legal framework for the fair, efficient, and effective resolution of commercial disputes through arbitration and mediation. The Act also incorporates the provisions of the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the New York Convention) into Nigerian law and introduces a comprehensive statutory framework governing both domestic and international arbitration, mediation, emergency arbitration, third-party funding, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

The Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2014 prescribe the practice and procedure governing civil proceedings before the High Court of Ogun State. The Rules provide a comprehensive procedural framework regulating the commencement of actions, filing and service of court processes, pleadings, interlocutory applications, trial procedure, judgments, enforcement of court orders, probate and administration, appeals, and other civil proceedings before the High Court. They were made pursuant to section 274 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and other enabling statutory provisions empowering the Chief Judge to regulate civil practice and procedure in the High Court.

The Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions, 2026 were issued to regulate the practice and procedure applicable to pre-election matters commenced before the Federal High Court. The Practice Directions supplement the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, 2022, the Federal High Court Act, and the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules by providing a specialised procedural framework for the expeditious hearing and determination of pre-election disputes. Enacted in 2022, the Act repealed the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended) and introduced a more comprehensive framework for combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
