The Russians' End Game. The Russian military launched an offensive from the Belgorod region into the northern regions of Ukraine, near Kharkov. The Russians' target could be the city of Kharkov in order to secure the buffer zone and prevent Ukrainian weapons from striking Belgorod.

This is the finale of the Russian strategy, which was developed in the fall of 2022, based on waging a war of attrition.

The decision by the ICC to indict three senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for war crimes committed in Gaza is mooted by the simultaneous indictment of three Hamas officials, including Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, on similar charges. Clearly the ICC cannot distinguish between the concept of occupier versus occupied. This latest indictment comes on the heels of the ICC’s indictment of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova on charges of unlawful deportation of population. The baseless nature of the ICC Russian indictment was underscored when over 160 Ukrainian children believed by the ICC to have been kidnapped by Russia turned up in Germany.

While the ICC charges against the three Israeli officials are warranted, by including Hamas in the indictment the ICC proves that politics, and not the rule of law, are what drives its work.
