✅India's New Industrial Revolution: Jefferies Highlights Big Boom in 6 Sectors Including Space and Semiconductors Global brokerage firm Jefferies has presented a highly optimistic outlook for India's manufacturing and technology ecosystem in its latest equity strategy report, "India's New Industrial Revolution." Driven by global supply chain realignments, robust domestic demand, and government initiatives like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, India is entering a new phase of industrial growth. Jefferies has identified 6 key sectors set to drive the next wave of economic expansion in India: Space Sector: Following the opening of the space sector to private investments, India's space-tech ecosystem is expanding rapidly. The sector's market value is targeted to grow 5-fold to $40–45 billion by 2030, with startups like Skyroot, Agnikul, and Pixxel leading the way. Semiconductors: Moving beyond policy formulation, India has entered the execution phase of semiconductor manufacturing. Approximately $20 billion in investments are in the pipeline for mega fabrication (Fab) and OSAT units, supported by an additional $13 billion incentive package for domestic chip design. Data Centres: Rapid digitization and rising cloud adoption have surged demand for data center infrastructure. The report projects India's data center capacity to increase up to 5 times over the coming years. Electronics Manufacturing: Transitioning from simple product assembly, India is shifting focus toward high-value component manufacturing. Driven by PLI incentives, production across smartphones, laptops, and IT hardware continues to scale up rapidly. Solar Manufacturing: To achieve the "Net-Zero" carbon emission goal by 2070, local production of solar cells, modules, and wafers is being accelerated to significantly reduce import dependency. Aerospace & Defence: India's aerospace and defense manufacturing is establishing itself as a key supplier in global supply chains. Defense corridors and local capital procurement policies are attracting substantial private capital into the sector. Jefferies emphasizes that India is not merely establishing individual manufacturing units, but building complete industrial ecosystems capable of meeting domestic demand while expanding footprint in global export markets.
