| 7 | Correct Answer: c. Illusion
Explanation:
An illusion is a misinterpretation of a real external stimulus.
In this question:
The patient actually sees a stick → the object is real.
But the patient interprets it wrongly as a snake → incorrect perception.
Therefore, this is an illusion.
Why the others are wrong:
a. Delusion → A fixed false belief despite evidence (e.g., believing people are plotting against them).
b. Hallucination → Perceiving something that is not actually present (e.g., seeing a snake when there is nothing there at all). | 1 772 |

| 10 | Answer: D. “With a pillow, apply pressure against the incision.”
Rationale:
After surgery, patients are encouraged to perform deep-breathing and coughing exercises to prevent respiratory complications. Supporting (splinting) the incision with a pillow reduces pain and protects the surgical wound during coughing and deep breathing.
Why the other options are incorrect:
A. Pain medication may help, but the immediate nursing intervention is to support the incision during the exercise.
B. This reassures the patient but does not help relieve the pain during coughing.
C. Although the pain is a normal postoperative response, simply stating this does not address the patient’s discomfort. | 2 203 |

| 14 | *Why You Should Study to Pass the NMC Licensure Examination and Avoid a Referral at all cost*
If you are preparing for the NMC Licensure Examination, let me say this plainly, do everything in your power to pass at the first attempt. This is not just good advice it is something that could significantly shape the next years of your life.
For students sitting the August/September 2026 examination, referring even a single paper carries consequences that go far beyond repeating a subject. If you refer, you will likely miss the National Service Scheme rotation expected to begin around May or June 2027. You would then have to sit the resit examination, typically held in April or May 2027, and after that, wait again before joining the next available rotation which may not begin until around March 2028.
That is close to two years spent at home. Two years of waiting, of watching your colleagues move forward, of carrying the financial and emotional weight of a delay that could have been avoided. The stress alone is not worth it.
So start preparing now. You still have several months before the main MCQ examination, and that time is more valuable than you may realise. Go back to your handouts. Review your notes. Solve past questions as consistently as you can.
Consider this if you commit to learning just 20 questions a day, you will have worked through roughly 2,400 questions over four months. That kind of steady preparation builds real confidence, and when you walk into that examination hall, you will feel it.
You have already covered Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, Psychology, Ethics, Disease Management, and a wide range of other important subjects. The knowledge is already there. What you need now is consistent revision, deliberate practice, and a genuine effort to understand the reasoning behind each answer not just memorise it.
*A Word for Diploma Students Preparing for the KNUST Terminal Examinations*
Do not be discouraged by what you have heard from others. The KNUST terminal examination is not something to dread it follows the same format as the end-of-semester exams you have been writing throughout your training. The main difference is that the content spans from your first year to your final year.
Because the topics are many, you will not be able to cover everything, and that is perfectly fine. Focus on past questions. They will quickly show you which areas need more attention, and working through them consistently is one of the most effective ways to prepare.
*PRIVATE PAGE*
We also have a premium page where we provide additional support in the form of carefully selected sample questions designed to guide your revision. These are not “ditto ditto” questions, but if you take time to understand them properly, I am confident they will make your exams much easier.
Joining is completely optional. However, if you wish to be part of it, you’ll be asked to contribute a small amount of 60 or 99 cedis to help keep the service running and continue supporting more students.
Success is never accidental. It comes from preparation, discipline, and a decision to take your studies seriously while you still have the time.
I wish each and every one of you the very best. This journey ahead is yours to own go and pass. | 2 911 |

| 18 | ✅ Correct Answer: C. II and III
📌 Rationale:
Moral reasoning is strongly influenced by emotional state and religious beliefs, as these shape a person’s values, judgments, and decision-making processes.
Emotions (II): Feelings like anger, fear, empathy, or guilt can significantly affect how individuals judge right and wrong.
Religion (III): Religious teachings often provide moral frameworks that guide ethical reasoning.
Although health (I) and sex (IV) may have indirect influences on behavior, they are not usually considered primary direct determinants of moral reasoning in standard nursing and psychology exam contexts. | 2 976 |
