The media pipeline is just as direct. Dylan Austin Walker, an American Communist Party member, became a reporter for China Daily, Beijing’s state newspaper registered under FARA in the United States. Chinese government outlets repeatedly promoted him as an American admirer of the CCP. . . . Walker later appeared in a China Daily foreign-influencer delegation organized with Chinese provincial propaganda officials. Harrison called the trip a “transformative experience.” Less than a month after returning, he attacked the AFL-CIO for blaming China’s “predatory trade policies” for the destruction of American shipbuilding. He accused organized labor of embracing “anti-China xenophobia.” . . . Weeks later, he was publicly defending China against American unions. That same position was then incorporated into an official CPUSA Labor Commission report. The report rejected the AFL-CIO’s criticism of Beijing while outlining plans for CPUSA members to deepen their presence inside unions, workplaces, voter-registration drives, and election operations. . . . Beijing’s propaganda has also entered Communist Party USA’s formal training program. CPUSA’s National Marxist School assigned materials from: • The CCP Publicity Department • Chinese state broadcaster CGTN • CODEPINK’s “China Is Not Our Enemy” campaign . . . One assigned text came directly from the CCP Publicity Department. The same school trained members to build Communist Party clubs inside American workplaces and neighborhoods. Join @NatalieWinters

The delegates met senior CCP officials, toured state projects, and received instruction on “socialism with Chinese characteristics.” CCP Vice Minister Jin Xin told them socialism held the long-term advantage over Western political systems. He invoked Mao: “A single spark can start a prairie fire.” Join @NatalieWinters

The CCP is also bringing American communists to China. In May 2026, Communist Party USA labor organizer Cameron Harrison traveled as CPUSA’s official representative on a two-week program organized by the CCP International Department. Join @NatalieWinters

The relationship includes direct access to CCP officials. Shen Ning of the CCP International Department appeared before a CPUSA audience to explain Beijing’s governing system, its use of party cadres, and the International Department’s role in advancing CCP programs. Join @NatalieWinters

The operation runs through the International Department of the CCP, Beijing’s arm for cultivating foreign political parties. Its American partner: Communist Party USA. The two parties openly celebrate a relationship they say has been developing for nearly two decades. . . . In a formal bilateral meeting, CPUSA leaders met directly with officials from the CCP Central Committee’s foreign-party apparatus. CPUSA’s own account declared: “The history and friendship of both parties were expressed and celebrated.” . . . CCP officials discussed Communist Party USA’s ability to recruit young Americans. Then came the payday. Eli Lilly agreed to buy the company for up to $1.55 billion. A former ARPA-H official said the agency helped: “derisk their technology platform enough for this exit.” Join @NatalieWinters

In 2024, Biden’s ARPA-H awarded the company an initial $28.2 million, with up to $49 million available. . . . The program targeted: “existing and unknown viral threats” and viruses tied to: “emerging infections, and potential pandemics.” Its federally backed patents cover mRNA, modified nucleosides and lipid nanoparticles. The startup was stacked with insiders. Its CFO was a former Biden White House COVID adviser. Its chief medical officer spent roughly 18 years at Fauci’s NIAID and helped oversee Moderna’s first COVID vaccine trial. Join @NatalieWinters

And CUSEF itself also runs these same trips not just for journalists, but for congressmen, former congressmen, think tank types (the Center for American Progress, the one that basically staffed the entire Obama administration), Congressional staffers (you want to talk about the degrees to which they control and really run American politics), and even, believe it or not, partnering with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to host a special delegation where they sent young Black Americans over to China to basically get exposed to Chinese propaganda. And they had testimonials from the students when they came back. One of them literally was praising China as a quote, ‘amazing communist country that was superior to the United States. The report also tracked the stories produced after the trips. Clive Crook published: “Why China and the U.S. Can Be Capitalist Comrades” C100 wanted the delegates to carry its preferred view of China back into America’s most influential newsrooms. . . . Several delegates later became prominent opponents of tougher action against Beijing. David Brooks called Trump’s proposed tariffs: “The single worst policy idea on the table before us.” He dismissed the argument that tariffs were necessary to confront China. . . . Eugene Robinson attacked Trump’s trade war as an: “Ill-advised gambit.” He wrote that Xi Jinping could emerge as the “reasonable adult” in the confrontation between Washington and Beijing. . . . Financial Times columnist John Gapper later defended allowing Chinese-founded fast-fashion giant Shein to list in London despite scrutiny of its supply chains, labor practices and governance.
