Statement 1 is correct: They are Red giants 100,000 times brighter and 400 million times larger than the Sun. Astronomers found the stage of the red giant star Betelgeuse by studying the pulsations. Statement 2 is correct: It is the second-brightest star in the Orion constellation, with irregular brightness changes debated by researchers. Statement 3 is incorrect: It has two pulsation cycles, one over a year and another around six years. Pulsations in the star suggest Betelgeuse is approaching a supernova explosion. Pulsation in stars is the periodic expansion and contraction of the outer layers of a star, which causes change in luminosity.

Statement 1 is correct: Industrial alcohol, which is also known as denatured alcohol, is ethanol (with chemical formula C₂H₅OH) with added impurities. It is generally unfit for human consumption due to the presence of impurities. Ingesting industrial alcohol can lead to severe health consequences and even death due to its poisonous nature. It is different from Usable alcohol or absolute alcohol which are predominantly called ethyl alcohol (ethanol). Statement 2 is correct: They are poisonous and thus unfit for consumption. Statement 3 is incorrect: They have Industrial use as a fuel, cleaning solvents, etc and they cannot be used in medical or laboratory premises due to toxicity.

Statement 1 is correct: In the first-past-the-post system, the candidate who gets the most number of votes in a constituency, declared as winner, even if they don't get a majority of the votes, this system is used for electing members of the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assembly. Statement 2 is incorrect: The U.S. does not use a proportional representation system for congressional elections, it uses first-past-the-post system for congressional elections, in each congressional district, the candidate with the most votes wins the seat. In proportional representation, seats are allocated based on the percentage of votes each party receives. Statement 3 is incorrect: The USA does not have a single autonomous election authority overseeing national and state elections, elections are managed at the state level, and each state has its own procedures and regulations for conducting elections. In India, the Election Commission is responsible for overseeing elections at the national level and state level.

Statement 1 is incorrect: Orchids are non-woody perennial plants of the family Orchidaceae. It has over 25,000 species and nearly 1,000 genera. They are predominantly found in tropical regions. They exhibit diverse growth habitats which includes terrestrial and epiphytic forms, and many species adapted to specific ecological niches. Statement 2 is correct: Orchid flowers have unique and differing structural characteristics. These are: They have pollinia, which are masses of pollen that facilitate specific pollination strategies. The stamens and pistil are fused to form a column. This distinguishes orchids from other flowering plants. Statement 3 is correct: Seeds of Orchid are tiny and lack an endosperm. They depend on mycorrhizal fungi for germination and uptake of nutrients.Many orchids in many cases form mutualistic relationships with fungi, which helps orchids in their nutrient absorption and growth.

Statement 1 is correct: During his Nobel prize speech, Gary Ruvkun highlighted the significance of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans in his scientific discovery. They are living transparent nematodes of size approx. 1 mm in length. C. elegans was the first genome sequenced animal in 1998. Much research on the species and availability of genome sequences gives it an advantage over other model organisms like flies and mice. Statement 2 is correct: They are Unsegmented pseudocoelomates. Pseudocoelomates have a fluid-filled body cavity which separates the gut from the body wall but it is not lined by mesoderm. They lack respiratory or circulatory systems. Statement 3 is correct: C. elegans have only 959 cells, and serve as a manageable model organism. Tracking developmental stages is also easy due to its transparency and short lifecycle.
