So let me make the case straight up.
But first, forget the schedule for a second and picture how this actually feels.
It's Thursday evening. You've driven in or flown into San Antonio and ridden the shuttle out, and the beautiful Texas hill country opens up around you. You step onto 200 acres and the first thing you notice is that nobody out here is pretending. Nobody's bracing for the conversation where they have to soften what they actually think.
That knot you've been carrying starts to loosen. The one you stopped noticing years ago because it's just always been there.
Then Alec Zeck opens us up, and he gets you. Really gets you. You're sitting there inspired and a little choked up and not entirely sure why. And 30 minutes later he's behind the DJ decks and you're dancing under the stars with a few hundred people who feel exactly the same way.
Friday morning you wake up on the land. Coffee, cold air, sun coming up over the hills. Breakfast made from food grown fifty yards away, and you pay for it with silver, and nobody blinks.
Then Doug and Stacy say something that breaks something loose in you. Probably something about how you've been studying and planning and researching for years when you could have just bought the land and figured it out. And you feel it strongly, because you know it's true.
Friday afternoon you're sitting down with Hakeem from Above Phone, working through the privacy problem you've been meaning to fix since 2021. Not hearing about it. Fixing it. He's right there.
Saturday Joel Skousen hits you with a hard dose of reality. He's eighty years old and he's been doing this since 1979 and he's not interested in making you comfortable. You walk out of that one with a very different sense of urgency than you walked in with.
Then you spend an hour and a half in a Sacred Honor workshop and the private realm stops being a thing you've heard of and starts being something with actual steps attached to it.
By that point you've done something you've been putting off for two years. Not read about it. Done it. And there's a specific feeling that comes with that, the one where you realize it was never as hard as the story you'd built around it.
Saturday night you're at the fire catching up with Mike Winner and Jason Crowe talking shop about Qortal. Music going. Then later, somebody you met Thursday is telling you about the land they just closed on, you're telling them about yours, and it's one in the morning and you had no idea.
Sunday, David Avocado Wolfe and Curtis Stone get you thinking on a whole other level. Not tips. Not tactics. The kind of thing that rearranges how you see the next ten years of your life.
And then you drive home with a notebook full of next steps, a phone full of numbers, and the thing that actually matters: you're no longer the only one.

On Manova we got into what all this AI compute is actually being built for.
I don’t buy that consumers are going to use it all. Planned AI data centers could demand around 200 GW, roughly 40% of today’s U.S. power supply, while AI is increasingly being framed as national-security infrastructure in a race with China.

Two large studies found something worth paying attention to: limited phone use may have some benefits, but once usage climbs past a certain point, the outcomes start getting worse.
For students, more time on social media, gaming, and browsing was associated with lower math scores after that threshold. Another study of 40,000 adolescents found a similar “Goldilocks” pattern across stress, sleep, depression, and other measures.

| 14 | Today is KDE's 30th birthday! Happy birthday to my favorite desktop environment.
I remember when I first played with Kubuntu in 2016, having my mind blown at the magic of community driven software development. In terms of design, features and substance, it was miles ahead of Windows. My favorite feature was the virtual desktops, combined with the Cube effect, which would flip desktops by rotating your screen as a cube.
I never looked back.
Seeing it work as well as it did gave me the confidence that open-source development wasnt just an alternative - but actually far better.
When we built Above Book in 2023, choosing KDE as our desktop environment was the obvious choice and has served thousands of our customers well (with a few quirks ;))
I have deep respect in my heart for the KDE team and can't wait to see what comes next.

Social media gives us endless opportunities to compare ourselves to other people and that constant comparison may be changing how we see ourselves.
One study found that heavier social media use among young people was associated with more body dysmorphia, with image-based Instagram and Tiktok standing out.
And it’s not just posting. Passive scrolling and constantly watching other people’s lives may actually be more closely tied to negative self-image than creating content yourself.
That feedback loop between comparison, appearance, and self-esteem is one of the patterns we explore in our webinar Breaking Out of Tech Addiction.
