Importance of Answer Writing:
When we read and re-read, the information gets crystalized in our mind.
However, this is NOT sufficient. The questions in Mains Exam will not be direct. That is, you will need to organise the information, make appropriate changes in it as per the requirement of the question and write a balanced answer including the different aspects of Economics, Polity, Geography, etc. related to the question.
So, actually, when we write we process the information (we already know).
We cannot directly use the information in books in Mains because of the paucity of time. You will not have time to think and produce the answer. You will need to think (process information in mind) and write simultaneously. This can come only when you practice answer writing regularly.
BPSC is all about Mains. Write As Much As You Can.
