LiDAR Survey of Lakkundi’s Hidden Heritage: ⦿ Karnataka DAMH and NIAS, Bengaluru signed an MoU for a LiDAR survey of Lakkundi, Gadag. ⦿ Aim: Locate hidden 10th–12th century temples, monuments and wells. ⦿ Uses LiDAR, GIS, GPR, drones, remote sensing and photogrammetry. ⦿ Lakkundi, known as Lokki-Gundi, is a major Kalyana-Chalukya heritage centre. ⦿ Its temples showcase Vesara architecture, blending Nagara, Dravida and Bhumija styles. ⦿ The survey will aid scientific conservation, discover unknown remains and strengthen its potential UNESCO World Heritage candidature.
