How to do smart guessing?
Smart guessing is a stage in the preparation which comes after a certain level of maturity. By maturity, I mean, by attaining good amount of knowledge and understanding across the spectrum. You need to have following attributes to generate and develop the skill of Smart Guessing:
1️⃣Be observative of your surrounding.
2️⃣Complete the basic reading and memorise the content
3️⃣Develop inter-relationships between the subjects
4️⃣Solve multiple MCQs (by multiple, i mean to the level of 800-1000 mcqs per subject)
5️⃣Analyze your mistakes and get to the root cause of you ticking the wrong option (There has to be some logical reason for clicking that particular option)
6️⃣Make notes of mistakes and start memorizing
When you follow these steps, smart guessing will eventually come automatically to you. Your gut feeling will start hitting the target. You will certainly develop confidence while solving questions.
The market is full of guides who pledges to give you potion for guess-work. Believe me, things doesn't works like this.
You got to go through the grill, the pain, and the discipline to develop some level of understanding about how the examiner is setting the options.
As it is always said that 'ये upsc नहीं आसां बस इतना ही समझ लीजे, इक आग का दरिया है और डूब के जाना है' 😊
Respect the process and enjoy the journey.
