Alternate view of the "Reservation Hatato Andolan" : DISCLAIMER: This is an personal opinion of one our many admins, and not the view of the whole Angry Saffron / Treeni team. RHA at its name suggests to "remove" reservation altogether. When you have several groups waiting to derail the whole movement, you can't publically take an absolutist stance. Absolutist stance only works when you have the mass on the ground, ready to do anything for the movement. But when your voice is in minority and those protesting on ground is in much more minority, such absolute stance only helps bring social media trends, but not anything meaningful on ground. Indian politics and its solutions doesn't work in isolation for one community only. The moment you do that, you shake the hornet nest. Your own government is in power and such absolute stance only damages our political future. 2024 LS Elections is a prime example, where opposition parties with misinformation regarding Reservation brought down BJP to 224. This movement's messaging only gives more strength to opposition parties. Unlike Congress, 2014 is the first time BJP has been in power for consecutive terms. Once you lose the winning streak and bring Modi out of power, bringing the same political acumen on table in regards to "National Interest" will be difficult in coming decades. Govt formed out of compromise, will eventually have to cede ground to useless personal interest of opposition and religional parties. Indira Gandhi and Modi are on of its kind. We aren't getting similar kind of leadership again in coming years, for subjects of National Interest. And to be realistic, Reservation as a whole isn't going anywhere atleast for another decade or more. A rather politically smart strategy when in a minority, is to work in peace meal. The movement should had demanded from the start about : — No benefit for the creamy layer — No benefit for consecutive generations — Misuse of SC/ST Act by the Blue goons — Resources for the poor generally caste brilliant students Politics is about messaging and perception. A smart political talking point should have been to claim that — give 100% reservation to those from SC/ST communities. But to atleast give benefit those deserving. Who do children of those families having IAS in every generation, keep getting benefit? There are many such examples in real life examples. That would had started conversation about how fake Caste certificates are issued. How Muslims win on seats reserved for SC/ST. How Blue goons use SC/ST Act for legal extortion. Remember, opposition parties don't only want more reservation but also want Muslim and Christians to get similar benefits. So the pushback has to be logical and beneficial to maximum people as possible. When you talk about how reservation is being misused, those deserving from SC/ST community also join the conversation. At present, a select few political and Blue goons have hijacked the reservation conversation. Once you talk about equitable and beneficial for all reservation, those Blue goons who use reservation as a money making business are brought out of the conversation. And real voices from the ground rises from all communities. By talking about removing reservation as a whole, you only empower the Blue goons and the opposition parties more. And those Blue goons becoming Messiah of their groups.
