Vessel Inspection Questionnaire for Bulk Oil, Chemical Tankers and
Gas Carriers (Part 2).
The purpose of the scheme is to enhance maritime safety pollution prevention and to facilitate the prevention of maritime fraud. The scheme may be applied by Administrations on a voluntary basis for new and existing ships, under their flag, engaged in international voyages. Administrations may also wish to assign the IMO numbers to ships engaged solely on domestic voyages and to insert the number in the national certificates.

Vessel Inspection Questionnaire for Bulk Oil, Chemical Tankers and
Gas Carriers (Part 1).
This is the heart of the Inspection Element and thus, a document which the ship Inspector use in the conduct of the ship inspection. The Questionnaire has a series of about 196 Key Questions separately and sequentially numbered relating to safety and pollution prevention, which, in most cases, are accompanied by guidance notes, sub-questions and source materials to aid the Inspector's response. The Key Questions are logically grouped into separate Chapters, with each Chapter focusing on a specific and separate area of ship safety and pollution prevention. While some of these Questions ask for informational response, such as ship size, particulars and dates, most of the Key Questions call for either a direct Yes, No, Not Seen or Not Applicable response.

This manual gives guidelines for a container ship which is constructed with a single deck, double side skin tanks, passageways and double bottom in the cargo space area, and is intended exclusively to carry cargo in containers in the cargo holds, on deck and on hatch covers. The manual includes a review of survey preparation guidelines, which cover the safety aspects related to the performance of the survey, the necessary access facilities, and the other preparation necessary before the surveys can be carried out. The survey guidelines encompass the different main structural areas of the hull where damages have been recorded, focusing on the main features of the structural items of each area.

Hybrid Propulsion Systems: Efficiency Analysis and Design Methodology of Hybrid Propulsion Systems.
A hybrid propulsion system features both a diesel engine and an electric motor for propulsion. The degrees of freedom with power generation raise the question how this division between power can be optimised in such a way that the engines are running with their optimal fuel efficiency. A generalised method to determine the power generation for all operating modes for a vessel, with a focus on the lowest fuel consumption of the diesel engines is developed.
