| 2 | 🛠 Rumored Xbox Game Pass Overhaul Includes Ads and Tier Shakeup
A ResetEra user known as Slayven — who has a partial track record on Xbox leaks — claims Microsoft is planning a major Game Pass restructuring in early 2027. The reported changes include an ad-supported tier at $13/month, an ad-free tier at $20/month, removal of day-one new releases, and cloud streaming becoming a $6 add-on capped at 25 hours. A family plan add-on ($6/month), a $15/month select-library tier, and an $11/month multiplayer-only plan are also mentioned.
Microsoft responded: "We don't have any changes to announce today or plans that have been finalized. There are no changes to previously announced games coming to Game Pass Ultimate on day one."
Reputable leaker NateTheHate noted Slayven's source "clearly has knowledge of some matters" but did not corroborate the report. Slayven's past record is mixed — correctly predicting a price increase and tier renames, but wrong on the exact price and PC Game Pass removal. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has previously said Game Pass will "evolve into a more flexible system."

| 3 | 🛠 WoW Forever Beta Kicks Off September 17
Blizzard's World of Warcraft Forever — a new permanent Classic-adjacent experience set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and capped at level 60 — enters beta this Thursday, September 17, running through October 21, 2026.
Beta access is guaranteed via two paid packs on Battle.net: the Skyborne Epic Pack ($59.99/£51.99) or the Warcraft Forever Collection ($79.99/£69.99). Free opt-in is available on the WoW Forever website but is not guaranteed. The beta opens at a level 20 cap, rising to 30 after a few weeks.
WoW Forever itself launches November 4 and is included with an active WoW subscription or game time — no extra purchase required, unless you want the new Skyborne race. Name reservation runs October 27–November 3 for anyone who upgrades, with up to three characters on a first-come, first-served basis.

| 4 | 💻 Valve's Steam Frame VR Headset Starts at $1,059
Valve has launched the Steam Frame, its first VR headset since 2019, priced at $1,059 for the 256GB model and $1,299 for the 1TB version. Every unit ships with a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx, which Valve has ported to ARM64 so it runs natively on the headset's Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 chip — no PC required.
The headset is standalone and can also stream flat and VR games from a PC. Pricing came in higher than originally planned due to global RAM and storage shortages. "We set out to come out with a device that would have been far more affordable, but the global RAM market, the global storage market have impacted us the same way they've impacted everybody," Valve developer Jeremy Selan told the BBC. Valve chose not to cut specs to manage costs, describing that as the wrong product decision.

| 5 | 🏢 Neowiz Trademarks "Wonders of O" for Lies of P Sequel
Neowiz has registered the trademark "Wonders of O" with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, strongly suggesting the Lies of P sequel will be set in a dark, souls-like reimagining of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The filing covers "interactive multimedia software for playing games." The hint was already planted in Lies of P's mid-credits scene, which showed a pair of ruby-red shoes. The Oz story entered the public domain in 1956, giving Neowiz full creative freedom over the source material. A sequel has been confirmed to be in development, though no release window has been announced.
Lies of P launched in 2023, received the Overture prequel expansion in 2025, and came to Switch 2 earlier this year.

| 7 | 🎮 WoW Forever Ditches Separate Realms, Overhauls Items
Blizzard revealed 10 major details about World of Warcraft Forever at BlizzCon. The classic-style MMO will not use separate realms, introduces optional transmogrification, and features a massively overhauled item system designed to smooth out the original game's rougher edges.
The project is described as a "classic-ish" experience, meaning it preserves the original MMO's foundation while adding quality-of-life changes aimed at making the game more accessible without fundamentally altering its character.

| 9 | 🎮 Blizzard Announces Diablo V for Spring 2029
Blizzard officially revealed Diablo V at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony in Anaheim, targeting a Spring 2029 release — the shortest gap between mainline entries in the franchise's history at six years.
Set 100 years after the defeat of Mephisto in Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, the game takes place in a world where Diablo has already won. Rather than preventing his conquest of Sanctuary, players will navigate a post-apocalyptic world already under the Lord of Terror's rule. Blizzard described the story as exploring what heroes must become in a destroyed world.
Further details on lore, classes, and gameplay are set to be revealed during a dedicated Diablo V panel later this weekend. Diablo IV launched in 2023; its predecessors each required over a decade between releases.

| 10 | 🎮 Warcraft 3 Gets First New RTS Campaign Since 2003
Blizzard has launched Forsaken Kingdom, a paid DLC campaign for Warcraft 3: Reforged, marking the first new Warcraft RTS content since The Frozen Throne expansion in 2003. Announced at BlizzCon 2026, the campaign covers the fall of Lordaeron after Arthas's invasion and the formation of the Forsaken and Undercity familiar to World of Warcraft players.
Alongside the paid DLC, the free Warcraft 3: Reforged 3.0 update is also live today, adding visual improvements and quality-of-life features. It follows a 2.0 update released in 2024 as part of the franchise's 30th anniversary, which aimed to address longstanding complaints about the remaster since its troubled 2020 launch.

| 11 | 🎮 Blizzard Reveals StarCraft Open-World Shooter, Due 2030
Blizzard announced a new StarCraft game at BlizzCon 2026 — an open-world shooter simply titled StarCraft, set to launch in spring 2030. The reveal was led by Blizzard VP Dan Hay, who confirmed the project alongside a cinematic trailer.
The new title will be the first mainline StarCraft game since StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void in 2015. Technically the third mainline entry, it marks a sharp genre shift from the franchise's signature top-down real-time strategy roots. Blizzard previously attempted a StarCraft shooter with StarCraft: Ghost, which entered development in 2002 but was officially canceled in 2014.

| 17 | 🎮 GTA 6 Trailer Drew 100K Netflix Sign-Ups in One Day
The 26-minute GTA 6 Extended Look trailer, streamed exclusively on Netflix, drove more than 100,000 US sign-ups in a single day, according to analyst firm Ampere Analysis. That made it the third-biggest Netflix event for new subscriber sign-ups in 2026, behind only the final season of Stranger Things and a Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano MMA fight.
Ampere also noted that more than 5% of US Netflix members who hadn't watched anything in the prior 30 days returned specifically to watch the trailer — a reactivation rate higher than any other title on the platform during that period.
"For Netflix, it offers a way to compete with YouTube for gamer attention and to bring lapsed viewers back," Ampere analyst Louise Wooldridge said. "For Rockstar, Netflix opens GTA 6 up to audiences beyond the franchise's traditional core."
GTA 6 launches November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
