Therefore, all our thoughts and actions must be in consonance with observation of the law of liberty. A Christian who fails to show mercy to the oppressed will receive God's condemnation. (8b) (i) Appointment to church offices are often based on considerations other than merit. (ii) Allocation of seats in the church during occasions depends on special status and not morality. (iii) Contributions in terms of funds made by the poor are not recognized as that of the rich in the church. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER NINE* (9a) Humility is the quality of being modest and selfless, recognizing one's limitations and standing before God without pride or arrogance. (9b) (i) Paul taught that humility implies that Christians should be of one mind. (ii) and that they should love one another. (iii) He believes nothing should be done from selfishness or conceit. (iv) Christians should in humility, count others better than themselves. (v) The interests of others should be projected above personal interests. (vi) Christ's example of humility stands out: though in the form of God, he did not exalt himself. (vii) But emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, born in the likeness of men. (viii) In his human form, Jesus became obedient even to the point of death - a shameful death on the cross. (ix) For this obvious demonstration of humility God has highly exalted Jesus. (x) He bestowed on him the name which is above every name. (xi) That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow. (xii) And tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (9c) (i)Performing acts of service for others without seeking recognition. (ii)Being willing to admit mistakes and seek forgiveness from others.

(vii) He also said that if anyone would follow him and did not hate his father, mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, he could not become a disciple. (viii) If one wants to build a tower, one must first sit down and estimate the cost to se one has enough money to start and complete it to avoid being mocked by people (ix) Secondly, a king whose military strength does not measure up to that of his enemy, must immediately negotiate for peace. (x) Jesus, in essence, did not want a naïve commitment that expected only blessings (xi) Thus, whoever cannot take his cross to follow Jesus is not worthy of him (xii) To follow Jesus requires self-denial, complete dedication and willingness to obey him and his cause. (5b) (i)Materialism and Worldliness: The pursuit of wealth, social status, and "the cares of this life" often take precedence over spiritual growth and service. (ii)Fear of Persecution or Social Rejection: In many contexts, living out radical Christian values can lead to ostracization or hardship, causing many to compromise their faith to fit in. (iii)Lack of Discipline/Commitment: The demand for "daily" cross-bearing is difficult in a fast-paced world. A lack of consistent prayer, study, and sacrifice leads to a "lukewarm" faith rather than active discipleship. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER SIX* (6a) After the ascension of Jesus, the disciples returned to Jerusalem and stayed together in an upper room with Mary, Jesus’ mother, and other believers. About 120 of them were present. During one of these meetings, Peter stood up and addressed the group. Peter explained that the Scriptures had to be fulfilled concerning Judas Iscariot, who had been one of the twelve apostles but betrayed Jesus. Judas later died, and his office became vacant. Peter quoted from the Psalms to show that another person must take his place. Peter then gave the qualifications for the new apostle. The person must have been with them the whole time the Lord Jesus moved in and out among them, beginning from the baptism of John until the day Jesus was taken up into heaven. Such a person would be qualified to become a witness of Christ’s resurrection alongside the other apostles. Based on this, two men were proposed. They were Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also known as Justus, and Matthias. Both of them met the required qualification. Before making the final choice, the disciples prayed. They asked God, who knows the hearts of all men, to show which of the two He had chosen to take the place in the ministry and apostleship that Judas had abandoned to go to his own place. After the prayer, they cast lots. The lot fell on Matthias, and he was added to the eleven apostles. In other words Matthias was chosen through prayer and casting of lots after setting biblical qualifications, to maintain the number of the twelve apostles. (6b) (i)Restoration of Order: It restored the symbolic number of twelve apostles, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. (ii)Divine Guidance: It demonstrated the Church's reliance on prayer and God's sovereignty in choosing leadership. (iii)Apostolic Succession: It ensured the continuity of the eyewitness testimony regarding Jesus' life and resurrection. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER EIGHT* (8a) James advised all Christians to do away with any acts of partiality in the church. He said that partiality can manifest when well-dressed and poorly-dressed individuals go to church and the poorly-dressed person is asked to stand up for the well-dressed person. According to James, this is partiality. God often honours those who are despised on earth but are highly faithful in spiritual affairs because it is the earthly rich who are the oppressors of the faithful poor they drag them to court without cause. All Christians should observe the royal law which says: love your neighbour as yourself. If you show partiality, you commit sin and you are convicted by the law. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one has become guilty of all of it. If one commits adultery, but does not kill, he is guilty of breaking the law.

Huldah declared that God would bring judgment upon Judah because of the people's idolatry and disobedience. However, because Josiah humbled himself before God, the disaster would not occur during his lifetime. Josiah then gathered the elders, priests, prophets, and all the people to the Temple, where the Book of the Law was read publicly. He renewed the covenant with God and led the people to do the same. He also carried out major religious reforms by removing idols, destroying pagan altars, dismissing idolatrous priests, restoring the worship of God, and celebrating the Passover according to the Law. His reforms restored true worship in Judah. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER FOUR* (4a) After His baptism in the Jordan River, Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He spent forty days and forty nights fasting, and at the end of that period He was very hungry. It was then that Satan came to tempt Him. First Temptation: The temptation of hunger The devil said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” This was a temptation to use His divine power to satisfy His physical need and to doubt God’s provision. Jesus overcame it by quoting Scripture. He replied, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’” Second Temptation: The temptation to test God Next, the devil took Him to the holy city, Jerusalem, and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple. He said, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels charge of you, and on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” This was a temptation to force God to prove Himself and to seek public attention. Jesus answered, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God’” Third Temptation: The temptation of power and glory Finally, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. He said, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” This was a temptation to gain worldly power and glory by compromising with evil. Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Begone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve’” After this, the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Jesus, In other words from this account, Jesus overcame the devil not by His own divine power, but by His obedience to God’s Word, His humility, and His complete trust in God. He became an example for all Christians that victory over temptation is possible through knowledge of Scripture and dependence on God. (4b) (i)The Power of Scripture: Jesus demonstrated that knowing and applying the Word of God is the primary weapon against spiritual challenges and temptation. (ii)Importance of Self-Discipline: The period of fasting shows that spiritual strength and fasting/prayer prepare a believer to resist physical and worldly desires. (iii)Trusting God's Provision: Christians learn not to use their positions or gifts for selfish gain or to test God's love, but rather to rely on His timing and will. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER FIVE* (5a) (i) A teacher of the law came to Jesus and expressed his desire to follow him where ever he went. (ii) Jesus' reply to him was: "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head. (iii) Another would-be disciple told Jesus to allow him first to go and bury his father. (iv) But Jesus told him to leave the dead to bury their own dead and follow him to proclaim the Kingdom of God. (v) Luke's account also presents a disciple who wanted to follow Jesus but wanted permission to go back and say farewell to his family. (vi) Jesus replied "No one who puts his hand on a plough and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God".

He separated the light from the darkness, calling the light Day and the darkness Night. Day Two: God created the firmament (sky) to separate the waters above from the waters below. Day Three: God gathered the waters together so that dry land appeared. He called the dry land Earth and the waters Seas. He also created grasses, herbs, and fruit trees. Day Four: God created the sun, moon, and stars to give light and to mark seasons, days, and years. Day Five: God created the fish and other living creatures in the waters, and the birds to fly in the sky. Day Six: God created land animals, cattle, creeping things, and wild beasts. (iii)God is a God of order and purpose – He created everything in an orderly manner, and each creation had a specific purpose. *NECO CRS* *NUMBER TWO* (2a) Elijah was sent by God to Ahab to denounce him and pronounce years of drought over Israel. Thereafter, God instructed Elijah to escape to the Brook of Cherith where he could drink water and be fed by ravens. After a while, the brook dried up as there was no rain and God made for him an alternative arrangement as he escaped to Zarephath. There, God sustained him and the widow through the miracle of the endless flour and oil. After three years of drought, Elijah was sent by God to confront Ahab and he challenged him to a contest at Mount Carmel to decide whom Israel must worship. At Mt. Carmel, Elijah ordered that two bulls be provided. Baal prophets were to choose one and prepare it for sacrifice to Baal while he too would prepare his own bull and whoever would get his sacrifices consumed by fire from his God would determine for all parties whom to serve. Baal prophets called upon their god all day to send down fire, but no fire came. When it came to his turn, Elijah ordered that water be poured lavishly on his own sacrifice. Despite all that, when he prayed, God answered with fire which consumed everything, including the water. The people acknowledged Yahweh as God. When Jezebel threatened to kill Elijah, he fled in fear and became discouraged. God intervened by sending an angel who fed him with baked bread and water twice. The food gave him strength to journey to Mount Horeb. At Horeb, Elijah was discouraged and said he alone was left. God spoke to him in a still small voice and reassured him. God told him that 7,000 in Israel had not bowed to Baal and instructed him to anoint Elisha as his successor. (2b) (i) God is a Provider: He provided food for Elijah through ravens, the widow of Zarephath, and through an angel during his struggles. (ii) God is All-Powerful: He answered Elijah with fire on Mount Carmel, showing that He is greater than all other gods. (iii) God is Merciful and Compassionate: When Elijah was discouraged and wanted to die, God did not condemn him but fed him, spoke gently to him, and encouraged him. *2026 NECO CRS ANSWER* *NUMBER 3* (3a) During the repair of the Temple, Hilkiah the High Priest discovered the Book of the Law and gave it to Shaphan the scribe, who read it before King Josiah. When Josiah heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes as a sign of repentance because the people had not obeyed God's commandments. He sent Hilkiah, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah to inquire from the prophetess Huldah concerning the message of the book.
