Two Paths Before You: The Mawlid or the Path of the Companions — Which Path Will You Choose? Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: I said to him: Bring me the mention of celebrating the Mawlid in the Qur’an and the Sunnah. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: We will make it broader for you—so bring me the mention of the Mawlid in the reports of the Companions – may Allah be pleased with them. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: We will make it broader for you—so bring me the mention of the Mawlid in the first century of Islam, the best of the generations of the ummah. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: We will make it broader for you—so bring me the mention of the Mawlid in the speech of the Tābiʿīn and in the second century, the second of the preferred generations. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: We will make it broader for you—so bring me the mention of the Mawlid in the third century, the third of the preferred generations, and in the speech of the four Imāms. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: We will make it broader for you—so bring me the mention of the Mawlid in the books of the earlier four madhāhib. So he was silent and could not find anything to say. So I said to him: SubḥānAllāh! By what Sharʿ or intellect can, with all of this, the celebration of the Mawlid be a religion? By Allah, then by Allah, whatever was not religion back then will never be religion after it, and it will be nothing but an innovated bidʿah, and every bidʿah is misguidance. So he said to me: Manners are given precedence over following, and if we were prevented out of humility, we would have done so as manners and love. So I said: SubḥānAllāh! When has opposition ever been manners? And when has opposition ever been love? By Allah, if a son were to use that as an argument when disobeying his father, the father and the people of reason would reject that and reproach him for it. So how can this be accepted regarding our Master, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Then are we more well-mannered and more loving than the Companions, the Tābiʿīn, and the four Imāms? This is a tremendous slander. Then this principle contradicts the Book, the Sunnah, and what the Salaf agreed upon. And if this alone is enough to dismiss the celebration of the Mawlid at its root for the rational person who is not bound by the shackles of blind-following, then what about when most of what people do in the Mawlid are evil practices that no rational person doubts? https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: The successful believer combines excellence with fear: he performs the righteous deed sincerely for his Lord, being keen on perfecting it and doing it with excellence, while fearing that it may not be accepted from him. Likewise, he combines having good thoughts about his Lord and having bad thoughts about himself. He does not become deceived by his deeds, nor does he despair or stop. Rather, this drives him to hasten towards good deeds and race for the Gardens, and so he worships his Lord until certainty (death) comes to him. قال ربنا تعالى {وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ (60) أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَٰبِقُونَ} Our Lord, the Most High, said: “And those who give that which they give (i.e., charity, etc.), with their hearts full of fear (whether their almsgiving has been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). It is these who hasten in the good deeds, and they are foremost in them.” Our mother ʿĀ’ishah – may Allah be pleased with her – asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this verse: {And those who give that which they give while their hearts are fearful}. ʿĀ’ishah said: “Are they those who drink alcohol and steal?” He said: “No, O daughter of al-Ṣiddīq. Rather, they are those who fast, pray, and give charity, while they fear that it will not be accepted from them. They are the ones who hasten towards good deeds, and they are foremost in them.” https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

For this reason He said: {Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient}, meaning obedient to Allah the Most High, {and guard in the husband’s absence}, meaning: obedient to their husbands even in his absence—she protects her husband with herself and his wealth.” https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

The Ultimate Outcome for the One Who Turns to Allah: Peace of Heart and Success in This World and the Hereafter! Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: The certain future and the true tomorrow is what comes after death. So what have you prepared for it? And have you continued reflecting on what you have sent forth for it? Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the tomorrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (Al-Ḥashr 59:18) https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: Reflect on this instruction and this speech in this context—so what then of other contexts?—and hold yourself to account: are you among those who implement it? ʿĀ’ishah – may Allah be pleased with her – said: A group from the Jews entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Death be upon you (As-sāmu ʿalayk).” So I understood it and replied, “And upon you be death and the curse! (Wa ʿalaykumu as-sāmu wa al-laʿnah)” But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Calm down, O ʿĀ’ishah. Indeed, Allah loves gentleness in all matters.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah, did you not hear what they said?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “And I said: And upon you (Wa ʿalaykum).” https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

The Key to True Happiness: Sincerity to Allah in Every Affair! Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli

A Powerful Phrase to Say in Times of Hardship: The Prophetic Words in Times of Trial! Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: From what we have taken from all of our shuyūkh and pass on to others: كن مع الحق: Be with the truth: تعتقد عقيدة أهل السنة، You believe in the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah, And you hold firmly to the fundamentals of the Sunnah and its people, Walking upon the methodology of the Salaf, وناشرا للعلم النافع، And spreading beneficial knowledge, وداعيا إلى ذلك بحسب علمك وقدرتك، And calling to that according to your knowledge and ability, And manifesting that with knowledge and wisdom, And being keen on unity of the word, And avoiding all forms of oppression, Then do not turn to how many agree or disagree with you, Nor to the one who tries to discourage you, Nor to the insults and comments of those who oppose you, And remain firm until you meet Allah while upon that. https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli

Shaykh Sulayman Ar-Ruhayli, may Allah preserve him, said: (اتقِ الله حيثما كنت وأتبع السيئة الحسنة تمحها) “Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good one – it will erase it.” Two phrases: one of them safeguards the soul from falling into sin before it happens, and the other opens the door of hope and optimism after the sin occurs, And how can the door of hope not be opened for the sinner, when our Prophet ﷺ informed us that Iblīs said: "وعزَّتِك لا أبرحُ أُغوي عبادَك ما دامت أرواحُهم في أجسادِهم." “By Your might, I will not stop misguiding Your slaves as long as their souls remain in their bodies.” So our Generous, Merciful Lord said: “By My might and majesty, I will continue to forgive them as long as they seek My forgiveness.” https://t.me/PearlsofRuhayli
