SCORA -JU participated in a networking event were highly esteemed professionals from various fields such as #Mrs.yetinayet solomon (CEO of yeti pads, creative writer and social media influencer ), #Mrs.fiayza (kana tv # time producer ) , #Dr selam gebrehmeden ( former EMSA JU official,downs syndrome advocate ) and many more came together to join forces and share their unique experiences.
It was so inspiring to have been surrounded with strong,passionate and dedicated individuals .
It was especially wonderfull to have witnessed our prior JU EMSA official Dr .Selam leading her new endeavours with grace and intellegence .
Needless to say EMSA is truly the place for ideas to prosper and leaders to blossom.
In the upcoming months ,We have one of our grand highlights of the year ready to be announced .

Gender based violence
Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It includes violence against women but is not limited to it. Gender-based violence encompasses violence directed at an individual based on their gender, and while it predominantly affects women and girls, it can also affect men, boys, and gender non-conforming individuals.
However, violence against women (VAW) is a significant component of GBV, as women and girls are disproportionately affected due to entrenched gender inequalities and societal norms. Types of VAW include:
1. Domestic violence
2.Sexual violence
3.Trafficking and exploitation
4.Harmful practices
5.Psychological abuse
Combatting GBV requires a multi-faceted approach involving governments, organizations, communities, and individuals to create a society where everyone can live free from violence and discrimination..

We’re excited to announce an important initiative in collaboration with our amazing partners at the International Youth Association on Family Planning (IYAFP)!
We need your help with a crucial survey: "The Utilization of Digital Technologies Among African Youth To Promote Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV)."
Are you:
1. Aged between 15-35 years.
2. Living in one of the countries recognized by the African Union, including North Africa (including some IFMSA EMR NMOs).

Dear African Youth, The utilization of technologies (including social media platforms and digital health) is essential to promote sexual and reproductive health knowledge and practices, especially among young people. For instance, digital health can be used for screening, health education, addressing social-cultural and privacy challenges, offering tailored services to individuals, and providing self-help support. It can improve service efficiency, improve coordination, linkages, and be offered easily by non-professionals. Furthermore, social media platforms are essential tools for sharing knowledge and promoting health issues, especially among youth. However, technologies have withdrawn including predisposing young people to GBV, which might affect their SRH and mental health. While African youth are crucial stakeholders in advancing healthcare, their engagement in addressing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) through technology-enabled initiatives in Africa still needs to be…

🎉🎈AMAZING!!!
We had the honour to interview our very own professor NETSANET WORKNEH(MD,PHD,DTM and H ). She shared with us her journey,the ups and downs of what made her who she is today as well as the skills needed to enhance ones potential/future prospects for medical students .
Training on communication skills and resilience was beautifully delivered by our professor .
We would like to thank everyone who joined us today in making this one of the most successful events organized by SCORA-JU .
We would like to thank professor Nestanet for giving us her time and sharing us wisdom beyond measure .

✨Our project isn't stopping here!
🤩We took our mission to the children's area at the Born Again Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. The joy and laughter we shared there were absolutely heartwarming. Seeing those smiles and hearing laughter from ear to ear was truly a priceless experience.
