[단독] 삼성전자, 엔비디아 뚫었다… HBM3E 퀄테스트 최종 통과 삼성전자가 마침내 엔비디아에 5세대 HBM(고대역폭메모리)인 HBM3E 퀄테스트(품질 검증)에서 승인을 얻었다. 조만간 이후 절차를 밟아 공식적으로 HBM 공급을 위한 양산에 본격 나설 것으로 보인다. 4일 반도체업계에 따르면 삼성전자는 최근 엔비디아로부터 HBM3E 퀄테스트 PRA(Product Readiness Approval)를 통보받았다. 이후에는 공급을 위한 협상 작업에 돌입할 것으로 전망된다. 이는 삼성이 엔비디아 측의 요청으로 HBM과 메모리 개발 담당 임원들을 미국에 급파한지 한달 여만에 나온 성과다. 앞서 삼성은 발열 등의 문제로 예정대로 퀄테스트를 통과하지 못하고 있는 것으로 알려졌고 이후에도 승인 소식이 알려지지 않아 우려를 샀다. 엔비디아 최고경영자(CEO)인 젠슨 황이 나서서 삼성의 퀄테스트 실패가 아니라고 상황을 전하기도 했다. 젠슨 황 CEO는 지난달 4일 대만 컴퓨텍스 참가를 겸해 열린 기자간담회에서 "삼성의 HBM 테스트는 어제도 진행 중이었고 통과하지 못한게 아니다"라고 말하며 퀄테스트 실패 보도가 사실이 아님을 밝혔다. 이어 "삼성과의 작업은 잘 진행되고 있고 인내심이 필요하다"고 말했다. 삼성 입장에서도 엔비디아에 HBM 공급이 절실했지만 엔비디아도 신속하게 HBM을 납품받아야 하는 처지다. 넘쳐나는 AI(인공지능) 반도체 수요와 HBM 탑재량이 급증하는 차세대 GPU(그래픽처리장치)인 '루빈(Rubin)' 양산을 앞두고 업계에서 HBM 생산능력(CAPA)이 압도적인 삼성을 공급사로 확보하기 위한 노력을 기울인건 마찬가지다. 이로써 삼성은 HBM에서의 불확실성을 제거하고 본격적인 양산을 시작하면서 메모리 사업에 날개를 달 것으로 보인다. 하반기부터는 HBM 실적이 퀀텀점프에 나설 가능성도 제기된다. https://biz.newdaily.co.kr/site/data/html/2024/07/04/2024070400015.html
