4.4 Lakh Traders Turned from Profit to Loss
Sebi study: 440,000 individual F&O traders who made gross profits became net losers in FY26 after brokerage, exchange charges, STT and other costs were deducted.
Transaction costs stayed near ₹25,000 crore even as derivatives turnover fell 5%. These charges ate 35% of losers’ losses (vs 21% of winners’ profits). Average cost per trader rose 22% to ₹31,628. STT’s share jumped to 27%.
