Meanwhile, the US appeared to pause its 13-day campaign of daily overnight strikes against Iran. While there was no indication that the operational halt would extend into next week, the pause certainly reinforces the diplomatic signalshighlighted in our US-Iran wrap on Friday.
However, there was an escalation overnight with Saudi-led strikes on Iran-backed Houthi targets in Hodeida. This comes after the terror group attacked multiple Saudi-linked tankers in the southern Red Sea area.

The “Readiness Simulation” project comes as the U.S. government is about to change its draft registration system.
Since 1940, men within a designated age range have been required to register with the Selective Service. But under a proposed rule, men aged 18 to 26 will be automatically registered starting Dec. 19, 2026. The Selective Service System will work off data contained in other federal databases.

You can make as much fun of Chinese robotic developments as you want, but at some point (and we'll definitely miss it) these "funny" wheeled robodogs will become a standard element of infantry equipment. By the way, the wheeled-walking hybrid design could be extremely useful in the assault operations currently conducted by the Russian Armed Forces near Slavyansk. The offensive there moves downhill due to the terrain, so a dozen or so such platforms, each carrying 10–30 kg of explosives, could effectively clear the path for assault groups. The hybrid design (wheels at the ends of articulated "legs") allows high speeds (up to 15–20 km/h) on relatively smooth descents and slopes, and when encountering thresholds, trenches, or rubble, it instantly switches to walking or jumping over obstacles.
