The BRICS alliance could announce another round of expansion in the upcoming 2024 summit. The 16th summit is scheduled to take place in October in the Kazan region of Russia. The new members UAE, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia will also take part in the summit and decide on the expansion. Saudi Arabia has yet to provide its decision on joining the alliance and has kept the invitation on hold currently. Developing countries around the world are expressing their interest in joining the BRICS alliance in 2024. According to the latest update as of April, around 40 countries are looking to join the BRICS alliance this year. The French threat to potentially deploy troops in Ukraine is necessary as a “strategic wake up call for my counterparts,” President Emmanuel Macron has claimed. He also repeated his assertion that Russia should not be allowed to win in the conflict. The French leader reiterated his attempt to use a “strategic ambiguity” approach to the situation by maintaining that the option of deploying troops was on the table. The collective West, thru NATO, plans to give Kiev not only F-16s, but also weapons for them. Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), has dubbed Washington's call for Moscow to join peace talks as something "detached from reality." She made this remark on April 29, saying American politicians "live in a wonderland." Zakharova pointed to Moscow's respect for international law in promoting the now-defunct Minsk Agreements.
