## Why is the Lion the Vehicle of Goddess Parvati?
The lion became the vehicle of Goddess Parvati because it symbolizes the divine qualities required to uphold Dharma and destroy Adharma.
According to the Markandeya Purana (Devi Mahatmya) and other Puranic traditions, when the Goddess manifested to destroy the demons, Himavan (the Himalaya King) offered her a divine lion as her vehicle. Since then, the lion has remained the eternal mount of Goddess Durga and Parvati in their warrior forms.
### What Does the Lion Represent?
🦁 Courage – Fearlessness in the face of adversity.
👑 Sovereignty – Supreme authority and righteous leadership.
💪 Power – The strength to destroy evil and protect the virtuous.
🕉️ Mastery over Ego – The lion represents ego, anger, pride, and uncontrolled instincts. The Goddess seated upon it signifies complete mastery over these qualities rather than being ruled by them.

| 3 | *" CROW BHUSHUNDA BIRTH "*
The story of the birth of the wise crow Bhushundi (Bhushund) — one of the most unusual and enlightened beings in Puranic literature and the tradition of yoga — is detailed in the "Yoga-Vasishtha."
This is not just a biological birth, but a mystical story closely connected with divine energies and the practice of yoga.
The Dance of the Matrix and the Wild Crows
At the summit of Mount Meru lived the formidable mother goddess Alagsambhusa (one of the Matrikas or companions of the god Shiva).
Her faithful companion and means of transportation (vahana) was a giant mystical raven named Chanda (Thunderous/Furious).
Chanda had many sons and daughters, possessing immense spiritual power.
One day, Chanda, along with his family, flew to a grand celebration organized by the Matrika goddesses.
During this celebration, the goddesses and their companions indulged in mystical dances and drank the divine nectar.
The goddesses' companions — wild, fierce crows (embodying various energies and shakti) — were intoxicated by ecstasy and nectar.
In this state of cosmic bliss, they united with Chanda.
After some time, these mystical birds laid eggs right in the nest on the branches of the sacred Kalpavriksha tree (the tree of wishes), which grew on the summit of Mount Meru.
From these eggs, twenty crow brothers were born. Bhushundi was one of them.
From birth, the brothers were extraordinarily developed, as they carried within them the energy of Matrik and the wisdom of their father Chandra.
As they grew up, the brothers began to seek liberation from the cycle of births and deaths (samsara).
They turned to their father for guidance.
Chanda initiated them into the deep practice of contemplation and worship of God.
The brothers secluded themselves on the southern branch of the Kalpavriksha tree.
While his brothers eventually left their bodies or dissolved into other worlds, Bhushundi remained on that branch, immersed in the deepest practice of Pranayama (control of the life breath—prana).
Bhusundi mastered the practice of Pavana-dharana (breath yoga) to such an extent that he became a Jivanmukta (liberated while living) and attained incredible longevity.
He survived several cycles of destruction and creation of the Universe (Mahapralaya).
When the entire world was engulfed by cosmic water or fire, Bhushundi, with the help of yogic power, simply ascended to the pure space (akasha), where destruction could not touch him, and then returned to his tree.
It was precisely because of his absolute calmness, purity of mind, and immense experience that Bhushundi became the one from whom the sage Vasistha himself learned, and later the crow recounted the story of the Ramayana to the bird-sage Garuda. | 78 |

Bhagavad Gita 17.15
THE DISCIPLINE OF SPEECH (*Vāṅmaya Tapas*).
> **अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत् ।
> स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते ॥ १७.१५ ॥**
Transliteration:
*Anudvegakaraṁ vākyaṁ satyaṁ priya-hitaṁ ca yat,
Svādhyāyābhyasanaṁ caiva vāṅmayaṁ tapa ucyate.*
Meaning:
Speech that does not agitate others, is truthful, pleasant, and beneficial, along with regular study of sacred knowledge, is called the austerity (discipline) of speech.
Krishna reminds us that words are a form of action, and like every action, they should reflect wisdom and self-control. Truth alone is not enough if it is delivered with anger or arrogance. Equally, pleasant words that hide the truth do not serve anyone. The ideal is to speak what is true, kind, and beneficial.
Before speaking, pause and ask: Will my words help this person grow, or am I simply reacting? A gentle tone does not weaken the truth—it makes it easier to receive. When compassion guides our words, conversations build trust instead of creating wounds.

*When Parikshit learned of the curse from the boy Shringi, he was filled with horror.*

*Inaccessibility to snakes:*

*It was this isolation at the top of the pillar that gave rise to the second part of the plot — about the cunning of the serpent Takshaka.*
*Since it was impossible to crawl or break thru to the top by force,* *Takshaka resorted to disguise:*
*He bribed the sage Kashyapa, who was on his way to the king and had the power to revive people after bites.* *(Takshaka simply offered him more wealth than the king could pay, and he turned back)*
*Other snakes from Takshaka's entourage took on the guise of Brahmin monks.*
*They ascended the tower to present the righteous king with fruits, flowers, and holy water in honor of the end of his seven-day fast.*
*The guards let the "Brahmins" thru, and the king accepted the offerings.*
*In one of these fruits, Takshaka was hiding, having shrunk to the size of a tiny worm.*
*When the king took the fruit, the worm transformed into a colossal serpent and delivered a fatal bite.*
*The difference between the "tower on a pillar" from the Mahabharata and the "departure to the banks of the Ganges" from the Bhagavatam is explained by the focus of the texts themselves:*
*"The Mahabharata" is a heroic epic and chronicle (itihasa)*
*It details material events, intrigues, the fears of the heroes, and their attempts to fight for life using tactical methods.*

Transliteration:
*Adveṣṭā sarva-bhūtānāṁ maitraḥ karuṇa eva ca,
Nirmamo nirahaṅkāraḥ sama-duḥkha-sukhaḥ kṣamī.*
*Santuṣṭaḥ satataṁ yogī yatātmā dṛḍha-niścayaḥ,
Mayy arpita-mano-buddhir yo mad-bhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ.*
Meaning:
One who has no hatred toward any being, who is friendly and compassionate, free from possessiveness and ego, balanced in joy and sorrow, and forgiving; ever content, self-controlled, and firm in resolve......such a person is dear to Me.
Krishna never describes kindness as weakness. Instead, He lists compassion, friendship, forgiveness, and gentleness among the highest qualities of a spiritually evolved person. It is easy to react with anger or harshness. It takes far greater inner strength to respond with patience, empathy, and respect.
Every act of kindness done without expecting recognition is an expression of self-mastery. Whether it is listening with attention, offering encouragement, sharing knowledge, or forgiving someone who has hurt us, such actions purify the mind and reflect the spirit of Karma Yoga.

Krishna teaches that inner peace comes from stability within, not from appreciation outside. Praise and criticism are both temporary. If we allow either to define our happiness, we hand over control of our peace to others.
The Gita encourages us to anchor our self-worth in our values, our duty, and our character—not in applause. When you do what is right simply because it is right, you become free from the constant need for validation. That freedom is one of the greatest forms of inner strength.

Sanatana Dharma teaches us that true devotion is not merely about performing rituals or offering expensive gifts. Real devotion is offering the purest emotions of our heart at the feet of the Divine.
In a beautiful town lived a revered sage. In the middle of the town flowed a sacred river, and at its center stood a magnificent temple dedicated to God. Every day, devotees came from far and wide, bringing offerings according to their means—fruits, clothes, ghee, flowers, and other gifts.
One day, the sage went on a walk through the town with his disciples.
They first stopped at a fruit shop. A man said,
> "Brother, please give me the cheapest fruits. I need them to offer to God."
A little farther, at a ghee shop, another man said,
> "Give me the cheapest ghee. It's for lighting the temple lamp."
Further ahead, at a clothing store, someone else said,
> "Give me the cheapest dhoti. I want to donate it to the temple priests."
The sage silently observed everything.
After some time, they reached the temple.
There, they witnessed a completely different scene.
A princess had just undergone the traditional head-shaving ceremony and was offering her beautiful hair to the Lord.
Nearby, a poor farmer, dressed in old, torn clothes himself, was donating brand-new clothes to the needy.
The sage asked the farmer,
> "My son, you don't even have good clothes for yourself. Why are you donating new ones?"
The farmer humbly replied,
> "Gurudev, I am not wealthy and cannot make grand donations. But whatever is the best that I have, I wish to offer to God. If these clothes bring a smile to someone's face, that itself is my worship."
The sage then asked the princess,
> "My child, your beautiful hair is your ornament. Why are you offering it?"
The princess folded her hands and answered,
> "Gurudev, I want to offer the dearest thing I possess to my Lord. If I only offer what has little value to me, how can that be true surrender?"
Smiling, the sage asked,
> "Since you're offering something so precious, surely you're asking God for great blessings in return?"
Both of them replied together,
> "Gurudev, we do not bargain with God. Our offering is not a business transaction. We seek neither wealth, status, nor luxury. If we ask for anything, it is only selfless devotion, selfless service, and the wisdom to walk the path of righteousness."
The sage then looked inside the temple.
The very people who had bought the cheapest fruits, the cheapest ghee, and the cheapest clothes were standing before God, reading out a long list of worldly desires they wanted fulfilled.
Turning to his disciples, the sage said,
> "Children, no one can deceive God. Before He sees what we offer, He sees the feeling behind it. One who gives God only what is left over, yet expects the very best from Him, has not yet understood the true meaning of devotion."
He continued,
> "Our scriptures teach us:
> 'Patram Pushpam Phalam Toyam…'
> Whoever offers Me a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or even a little water with sincere devotion, I joyfully accept it. The value lies not in the object, but in the devotion."
Finally, he said,
> "If you wish to offer something to God, offer your best time, your best actions, your noblest thoughts, your finest character, and your purest heart. If you ask for anything, ask only for selfless devotion, selfless service, and the strength to walk the path of Dharma." | 147 |

An act performed according to dharma, with the conviction that "this is my duty," and without expecting any reward, is considered pure (sattvic).
Krishna teaches that the true worth of an action is determined not merely by what we do, but by why we do it. An action driven by ego, praise, or personal gain may produce results, but it does not purify the mind. The same action, performed with sincerity, selflessness, and a sense of duty, becomes Karma Yoga.
Before beginning any important task, pause and ask, "Am I doing this for recognition, or because it is the right thing to do?" When the intention is rooted in dharma rather than reward, every action—however ordinary—becomes meaningful and spiritually uplifting.

* Sun in the 11th House: Help the underprivileged and needy in society.
* Sun in the 12th House: Share your gains and profits with your elder siblings.
Following these forms of charity earns the grace of the Sun, bringing greater support, recognition, and success in life.

| 19 | ## 🐢 How did Lord Vishnu shower His boundless love upon a little tortoise that was once prevented from touching His divine feet in Vaikuntha?
### 🐢 The extraordinary devotion of a humble tortoise and the divine play of Lord Hari
*(A deeply moving and inspiring devotional story)*
A little tortoise was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu.
One day, while sages had gathered at Gangasagar for a holy bath, the tortoise heard them glorifying the greatness of Lord Hari's lotus feet. Listening to their words, it developed an intense longing to behold and touch those sacred feet.
The tortoise asked the sages,
"How can I have the darshan of Lord Hari?"
The sages replied,
"Only those blessed by His divine grace are fortunate enough to behold His lotus feet. Though the Lord is present everywhere, He eternally resides in Vaikuntha, reclining on Adishesha in the midst of the Ocean of Milk."
With unwavering determination, the tortoise began its slow journey to Vaikuntha.
After enduring countless hardships, it finally reached the Ocean of Milk, where it beheld Goddess Mahalakshmi lovingly serving Lord Vishnu's lotus feet.
Overwhelmed with devotion, the tortoise moved forward to touch the Lord's feet.
But Adishesha and Goddess Lakshmi stopped it.
The tortoise's long-cherished desire remained unfulfilled.
Witnessing all this, Lord Hari simply smiled.
Sage Narada was astonished, but who can truly comprehend the divine play of the Lord?
## 🌸 Treta Yuga – Birth as Kevat
In its next birth, the same tortoise was born as Kevat, the humble boatman.
Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Rama, Goddess Lakshmi as Sita, and Adishesha as Lakshmana.
When Lord Rama wished to cross the river, Kevat humbly folded his hands and said,
"Please allow me to wash Your feet first. The dust of Your feet transformed Ahalya. If that same dust touches my boat, it too may transform, and I will lose my livelihood."
Thus, the devotee who was once prevented from touching the Lord's feet in Vaikuntha was blessed with the priceless fortune of washing Lord Rama's feet with his own hands.
## 🌸 Dwapara Yuga – Birth as Sudama
In another birth, the same soul was born as Sudama.
Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Krishna, Goddess Lakshmi as Rukmini, and Adishesha as Balarama.
When Sudama arrived in Dwaraka to meet his childhood friend, his feet were bruised from the long journey.
Lord Krishna Himself lovingly washed Sudama's feet.
Goddess Rukmini brought the water.
Balarama watched this extraordinary expression of divine love and friendship with tears in His eyes.
## 🌺 Hari is Infinite, and so are His Divine Ways
The Lord never leaves the pure desire of a true devotee unfulfilled.
If He does not grant it today, He is preparing to bless it in a far greater way tomorrow.
What seems like a delay is often the beginning of a much greater blessing.
