Kyiv Academic University (KAU), the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) support Ukrainian scientists who had to leave their home country as a result of the invasion by the Russian army. The scholarship program is designed to enable them to continue their research work for at least a limited time in Dresden. In addition to using our own funds, we coordinate funding from the Leibniz Association, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Free State of Saxony. Prompted by the events in Ukraine, the Centre de recherches mathématiques and the Institut des sciences mathématiques offer a program in support of mathematicians in distress due to war, oppression, and persecution. The objective is to provide a temporary safe haven to international researchers in mathematical and statistical sciences, so that they can continue pursuing their high-quality research and training goals in a secure and welcoming environment. Applications are open to researchers at all levels, from graduate students to senior faculty. Financial support can take the form of scholarships in ISM partner universities, travel grants for participation in CRM activities, and visiting fellowships for collaboration with CRM researchers. To apply for this program, it is required to submit a cover letter explaining the particular circumstances of the application, including the specific form of support that is being applied for, and the names and e-mail addresses of three references. Indicating potential contacts among the CRM researchers would be helpful. The cover letter should be accompanied by a short (1-2 pages) description of the research and study intentions, as well as a complete CV containing a list of publications. An invitation from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem: Hebrew University Emergency Aid for Researchers and Students from the Ukraine Considering the threat on the lives or academics in the Ukraine, and in a show of solidarity, the Hebrew University is offering academic hosting for Ukrainian academic staff and students of higher degrees. Ukrainian academic faculty members, residents of the Ukraine, who serve in academic institutions in the Ukraine, are invited to continue their research activity within the framework of the Hebrew University (HUJI). The invitation is to stay at the University for a period of up to four months, during which time the University will provide scholarships for suitable guests in the amount of between $2,500/month for individuals and $2,800/month for families, as well as free accommodation in the University’s dormitories for the four-month period. Guests who require a lab to conduct their research will be hosted in the labs of HUJI researchers, in coordination with the Head of the Lab. The Head of the Lab is encouraged to provide a scholarship from his/her research budget, however, hosting is not dependent on providing funding for the guest. Master and PhD Students, residents of the Ukraine, who are studying in academic institutions in the Ukraine, are invited to continue their academic research at HUJI. The invitation is to stay at the University for a period of up to four months during which time we will offer suitable candidates scholarships in the amount of $2,000/month and free accommodation in the University dormitories during the four-month period. Guest students who require a lab to conduct their research will be hosted by HUJI researchers in coordination with the Head of the Lab. The Head of the Lab can provide a scholarship from his/her research budget, however, hosting is not dependent on providing funding for the guest. Ukrainian undergraduate students are also invited to attend courses at the HUJI Rothberg School for International Students, and scholarships and accommodations will be offered to suitable candidates.
