Dear Colleagues, As you may see from the forwarded email, Ms Kuestenmacher from the Volkswagen Foundation (her email is in CC) is willing to help you find contacts to German universities or research groups. Again please take care of yourself. Sergei Pereverzyev Тема fyi: funding Ukrainian academics Від кого Arne Winterhof Кому Sergei Pereverzyev, Oliver Roche-Newton, Peter Kritzer Дата Пт 13:30 Hi all! I am forwarding the mail below fyi. All the best  Arne Hello to all, A colleague of mine is working with the Volkswagen Foundation, which ha= s currently initiated a funding programme for Ukrainian academics who h= ave fled. More detailed information can be found here: https://www.volkswagenstiftung.de/unsere-foerderung/unser-foerderangebo= t-im-ueberblick/gastforschungsprogramm-f%C3%BCr-geflohene-ukrainische-w= issenschaftler-innen My colleague speaks German and English as well as Russian and would be = willing to help the persons concerned with the application process. She would also be able to help you find contacts to German universities=  or research groups in the fields of mathematics, computer science, ele= ctrical engineering, data science and artificial intelligence. My work colleague can be reached via the following email address: kuest= enmacher@gmx.de My colleague's problem is that she doesn't know how to make initial con= tact with the people concerned. That's why I thought: "Pass this on to the relevant Mensa distribution = list. Maybe someone there knows someone." And that's how this email came about. I also assume that there is a Ukrainian branch of Mensa and that there = is a good chance that there are Ukrainian Ms who are also active in the=  field of research. If anyone has contacts there, it would be nice if this request could be=  forwarded here (translated if necessary). Perhaps there is also a corresponding distribution list...? Kind regards David Gausmann

As far as I see, the western part, in particular Lviv is not attacked so far. The pictures I see are horrifying and I can hardly imagine what it means to live in Ukraine today. Next to expressing my deep compassion with you, I wanted to inform you that the Volkswagen-Stiftung is willing to finance a 6 to 12 month stay of Ukrainian scientists which are forced to flee due to the war. So if you or some other mathematician you know are in such a situation, please let me know it as soon as possible. The name of the scientists must be communicated to the university administration by Monday 2 pm. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Мова йде про University Passau. Kyiv Academic University (KAU), the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) support Ukrainian scientists who had to leave their home country as a result of the invasion by the Russian army. The scholarship program is designed to enable them to continue their research work for at least a limited time in Dresden. In addition to using our own funds, we coordinate funding from the Leibniz Association, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Free State of Saxony. The Ukraine Scientific Scholarship Program Dresden is a continuation and extension the UKRATOP program. Applications in English, German or Ukrainian are possible from now on to the e-mail address Ukraine.Scholarships@ifw-dresden.de The details are here: https://www.ifw-dresden.de/uploads/groups/verwaltung/personal/stellenanzeigen/Ukraine-Scholarship_en.pdf

А це інформацію з Монреалю Joint CRM-ISM initiative in support of mathematicians in distress. Prompted by the events in Ukraine, the Centre de recherches mathématiques and the Institut des sciences mathématiques offer a program in support of mathematicians in distress due to war, oppression, and persecution. The objective is to provide a temporary safe haven to international researchers in mathematical and statistical sciences, so that they can continue pursuing their high-quality research and training goals in a secure and welcoming environment. Applications are open to researchers at all levels, from graduate students to senior faculty. Financial support can take the form of scholarships in ISM partner universities, travel grants for participation in CRM activities, and visiting fellowships for collaboration with CRM researchers. To apply for this program, it is required to submit a cover letter explaining the particular circumstances of the application, including the specific form of support that is being applied for, and the names and e-mail addresses of three references. Indicating potential contacts among the CRM researchers would be helpful. The cover letter should be accompanied by a short (1-2 pages) description of the research and study intentions, as well as a complete CV containing a list of publications. Applications in PDF format should be sent to nominations@crm.umontreal.ca with the subject line “Support for mathematicians in distress”. From: Directeur du CRM <directeur@crm.umontreal.ca> Subject: Math en détresse / in distress
