➡️Ethics Term Series on YouTube Aditya Sir, with notable scores of 148, 127, 114, and 114 in Ethics, presents the “Ethics Term Series.” Each Video covers: • Definition of Key Terms • Concise Phrases • Examples • Application to PYQs Playlist - Click here Telegram Channel - Join Now

🚨 DAY 11: 30 DAYS ETHICS ENRICHMENT SERIES 📚 Topic: Doctrine of Double Effect 📖 Meaning: The Doctrine of Double Effect is an ethical principle that justifies actions that have two effects: one intended and good, and the other unintended but foreseen as bad. It has the following features: 1. Two Effects: The action leads to two effects—one positive (intended) and one negative (unintended but foreseen). 2. Moral Distinction: The negative effect is not directly intended, but the person acts to achieve the good effect, knowing the bad effect will follow. 3. Proportionality: The good effect must outweigh the bad effect in terms of moral significance or importance. 4. No Direct Intention: The harmful outcome must not be directly willed or intended. It is a side effect of the action. ✏️ Examples: 1️⃣ In medical ethics, a doctor administering high doses of painkillers to relieve severe pain may foresee the risk of shortening life but does not intend the death. The intention is pain relief, not death. 💬 Key Quote: "The good effect must be at least as great as the bad effect." —John Finnis 👉 Application: 1️⃣ Use this concepts in questions related to Ethical Dilemma. 2️⃣ Almost all the case studies in the paper ask us to take some action in Ethical Dilemma. Use this concept to justify your course of action. In ethics, nothing is completely right or completely wrong. You just need to justify your course of action through some thinkers’ concept or idea. Hit ❤️ if you found this useful. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd

I went there with hesitation 🙌 As both a teacher and once a student, I wasn't sure what to expect. But after being there, one thing became clear... I didn't see just a political crowd, I saw students, I saw parents, I saw working professionals who had taken leave just to be there 😶 You may support this protest. You may oppose it. You may question the organization behind it. But don't let that distract from the real issue. In my opinion, it is deeply disappointing that despite repeated controversies around major examinations, the greedy, power-hungry minister has still not resigned or accepted political responsibility.

“Directly usable in exam” “Very handy in revision” This is general feedback we get and guess what these two things are the most important components to score well! Now on the top of that, current affairs based contextual introduction/ conclusion will be added to the file! What more do you need! Last few seats at discounted price!

To whoever who needs it, a good learning for UPSC journey(even for life), especially if you can learn it early on and apply: Know the difference between what you need and what you want. Do not cheat on long term goals for short term desires. Do not waste time in building things for the moment. Build for life. Keep asking yourself, is this pleasure & happiness momentary or its building something real. "The more you say NO to things which don't matter, the more time you have to say yes for things which do". Surround yourself with people who instill hope, life and happiness in you and do it to yourself too. Sometimes enduring the pain of not having and abstaining is better than enduring guilt of lost time in useless joys. UPSC and Beyond (Check pinned post for all the content)

Story time- Tejas Sarda(Presently IPS) "There is no great genius without some touch of madness." – Aristotle There can be craziness and there can be passion. This is a story of crazy passion of my dear friend Tejas Sarda (AIR-128, 2023) (IPS, rank improvement with 2024 mains). I had Been preparing for UPSC since 4 years then, post 2023 mains, just 2 days later I get his call 'Do you want to discuss/analyse GS2 paper?' and I was perplexed, as in is this guy serious? This was my 3rd mains and I have not seen anyone discuss paper immediately after mains. Specially because of exhausting and soul sucking nature of Mains. Most people i know relax for 1-3 months! So i thought it's natural to relax, so did i. But guess what Tejas didn't. He was already an officer through reserve list then, and 2023 results he became IPS. So don't you think in India there are 100-500 people with crazy passion like him, who are smart? These are the people you are competing with. If you have given mains do relax but do analyse paper before you forget what you wrote, and if you have never given mains or have first attempts next year, remind yourself this story often, can you develop crazy passion for your dream and this exam?

Like the post says, just like Gandhi’s 7 sins, don’t commit a deadly UPSC sin of study without revision! I want you to go through each one of them (at least content related posts)
