📜 Love of Allah
The story of Prophet Ibrahim (as) preparing to offer his son Isma’il (as) as a sacrifice to Allah (swt) is not one of simply offering flesh and physical bloodhsed, but more so of spiritual sacrifice and submission to Allah (swt).
As the story goes, one day Ibhraim (as) dreamt that Allah (swt) wished for him to sacrifice his son Isma’il (as). Fearing it was a trick from Shaytan, he dismissed the dream until the command came again. From his reccuring dream, Prophet Ibhraim (as) knew that this was a command from Allah Almighty.
As an obedient servant of Allah (swt), Ibrahim took his son Isma’il (as) to Mount Arafat with a knife and rope in preparation for the sacrifice. He told young Isma’il (as) of his intentions but when he raised the knife, Allah (swt) intervened and spoke to Ibrahim (as): he was not to sacrifice his son, for this had merely been a test of his faith, devotion and submission to Allah (swt). Instead, Isma’il (as) was replaced with a sacrificial animal as a symbolic reminder:
‘And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, “O Ibrahim, You have fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, And We left for him [favourable mention] among later generations: “Peace upon Ibrahim.” Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.’ (Qur’an, 37: 103-11)
Each year, during the holy days of Eid al-Adha, Muslims offer a Qurbani (Udhiyah) sacrifice in memory of this important event. By offering a goat, sheep, cow, camel or other such animal as a sacrifice to Allah (swt), we celebrate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah (swt) and the mercy that Allah (swt) bestows upon us when we submit to His commands. We are reminded of the importance of trusting Allah (swt) and his Greatness, subhan Allah, through this story.
May Allah make us among those who do not rely on anyone except for Allah 💖

💎 Forgiveness of Past & Future Sins
Fasting on the day of arafah forgives past and future sins. Prophet ﷺ when asked about fasting on the day of Arafah, said, “It expiates the sins (minor) of the past year and the coming year.” (Muslim)
💎 Allāh ﷻ Releases Souls from Hell on This Day
Prophet ﷺ stated, “There is no day in which Allah sets free more souls from the fire of hell than on the day of Arafah.” (Muslim)
💎 It Is the Sunnah of Prophet ﷺ
Hafsah (RA), the wife of Prophet ﷺ said, “Four things the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never neglected: Observing fast on the day of Ashura, Arafah, three days every month, and offering Fajr Sunnah prayers early in the morning.” (Muslim)
💎 It Is the Essence of Hajj
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said “Hajj is Arafah.” (Nasai) This means that one’s Hajj won’t be completed if they don’t visit Mount Arafat. So, for those who cannot perform Hajj, fasting on the day of Arafah is a way of renewing their promise to Allāh ﷻ & committing to starting fresh.
💎The Religion of Islam was Perfected on This Day
On this day, Allāh ﷻ revealed to Prophet ﷺ “This day I have completed your religion for you, perfected my favour upon you, and have chosen Islam as your religion.” ( Quran, Al-Ma'idah: 3) Hence, fasting on the day of Arafah is a way to celebrate this monumental occasion.
💎Is Fasting On the Day of Arafah Compulsory?
The Day of Arafah is one of the most important days in the Islamic calendar. Even though it’s not compulsory to fast on this day, it is highly recommended, especially for those not performing pilgrimage (Hajj).
💎The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The most excellent dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said, is (la ilaha ila Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu al-mulk wa lahu al-hamd, wa huwa `ala kulli shay’in qadir)

As we approach the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha, we might worry or even feel a sense of regret that we haven’t done enough in these first days of Dhul Hijjah—but there’s still time. There’s still time to engage in dhikr—la ilaaha ill-Allah, Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah.
There’s still time to send salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ. There’s still time to open up the Qur’an or a translation and read a page, or half a page, or even one line. There’s still time to donate to a good cause, even if all we can give is $1.
Alhamdulillah, there’s still time to connect with Allah—all it takes is one sincere moment. In a very encouraging narration, Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) related that once, the Prophet ﷺ was asked about the most beloved deeds to Allah.
He said, “Those deeds which are performed consistently, even if they are small.” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
In the time that remains of these first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, even if we can only do a little, let’s try to do our best inshaAllah and there are so many ways to earn reward in addition to engaging in dhikr and salawat, praying, reading Qur’an, and making a donation.
In one narration, the Prophet ﷺ taught us that speaking well with others is charity. Every step taken towards the prayer is charity. Removing a harmful object from the path is charity. (Sahih al-Bukhari)
He said, “Every good deed is an act of charity.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
In another beautiful narration found in Sahih Muslim, Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Do not consider any good act inferior, even if it is to meet your brother or sister with a cheerful face.”

Praise be to Allah.
🕋BEST DU'A ON THE DAY OF ARAFAH🕋
‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allah ransoms more of His slaves from the Fire than the day of ‘Arafah . He draws close then He boasts about them before the angels and says, ‘What do these people want?’” (Narrated by Muslim, 1348)
‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best of du’a is du’a on the day of ‘Arafah, and the best that I and the Prophets before me said is ‘La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir (There is no god but Allah Alone, with no partner or associate; His is the dominion, to Him be praise, and He has power over all things).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3585)’ classed as hasan by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib (1536)
Talhah ibn ‘Ubayd ibn Kurayz narrated in a mursal report: “The best of du’a is du’a on the day of ‘Arafah.” (Narrated by Malik in al-Muwatta’ (500); classed as hasan by al-Albani in Sahih al-Jami’ (1102)
