10 "Normal" Things ADULTS Do When They Were NEVER Comforted as Kids
When a child is distressed, the thing that calms them isn’t willpower. It’s another person. A hand on the back. A voice that says “I’m here.” That’s co-regulation — and it’s how a human being learns to settle. But some children never got that. Not because they were hated — but because when they cried, no one came. So they adapted. They learned to comfort themselves, alone, with whatever they had: silence, warmth, food, repetition, control. And the world called it strength. This video looks at what that “strength” actually became. For each of the 10 habits, we show what it looked like as a child (then) and what it turned into as an adult (now). Because every one of these behaviors started as a child’s best attempt at doing alone what two people were supposed to do together.
