Honestly, i think it can be challenging, but also a huge advantage because WE need more diversity, my best advice would be, don't let anyone's expectation, or expectation you have been seeing make you underestimate yourself. build real skills, keep learning, speak up and don't ever be afraid to take up space... because i sometimes see the otherwise. as for me, i am more into ML, especially working with data and building pretty cool intelligent systems, but honestly tech is so broad that i think the best area is whatever makes you curious enough to keep going when things are difficult

For me, the CS50 python course was arguably the best conceptual intro, then Automate the boring stuff with python was a good read. again Dont get stuck in tutorial hell and build tiny, silly things early

So true, someone doesnt have to be malicious to completely derail your focus or energy, but the fact that the underlying drive and brainpower were there in the first place means eko they didn't vanish, you can get back up, you're just thrown off course, If you need help i am here as well
