Registration for the AI Re-Entry Workshop is now closed!
A big thank you to everyone who registered and shared their interest in joining us. We’ve been excited to see the response and the curiosity around this conversation.
We’ll now be reviewing the registrations and sending invitations to selected participants via email in three hours.
If you didn’t make it into this workshop, don’t worry. This is just the beginning. We’ll continue creating spaces like this in the future so more people can join the conversation, meet others, and explore new ways of thinking about AI, work, and technology.
Thank you for being part of the community. We hope to see you at a future session!

Join the Hackathon This Weekend, Where Thinking Is the Prototype
Building on our two AI Re-Entry School of Thought seminars, we’re bringing the conversation into a hands-on, two-day workshop where ideas get tested through real activities and challenges.
You’ll work through situations that ask you to slow down, challenge an easy answer, look at information from different angles, and figure out what deserves your attention. You’ll also get to see how other people approach the same challenge and discuss what worked, what didn’t, and why.
The workshop is designed around productive friction. Instead of rushing toward the first answer, we’ll create space for trial, second thoughts, disagreement, and reflection. The goal is to explore how these habits can shape the way you work, lead, learn, and make decisions with AI in a world filled with instant, confident answers.
This is not a coding class or a technical hackathon. It is an open, interactive space for professionals, and curious minds from every field to rethink how we question, connect, trust, and decide alongside technology.
📅 September 19–20, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Thank you, Sinkneh Eshetu, for grounding our vision of the future in indigenous wisdom.
Last Wednesday at 10 Academy, author and researcher Sinkneh Eshetu (Otamo Pulto) joined us for a rich conversation connecting African philosophy and artificial intelligence. Drawing from his work on Ubuntu and Pulto, he encouraged us to look beyond technology and fear, and think about these systems through our own languages, cultures, and ways of understanding the world.
Thank you to Sinkneh for sharing his perspectives, and to everyone who joined, asked questions, and made the evening a meaningful exchange.
You can find Sinkneh’s newly published books at Ezop Book Shop in Arat Killo, near the old Abadir Supermarket.

Is Artificial Intelligence simply about computational power, or could it also open the door to a deeper understanding of intelligence? More importantly, how can Africa approach AI not with fear or anxiety, but as an opportunity to reflect on our own agency, consciousness, and indigenous philosophy?
Join us this Wednesday at 10 Academy’s Addis Ababa Office for a conversation with author and researcher Sinkneh Eshetu (Otamo Pulto).
Sinkneh's work explores the connections between indigenous African thought, psychology, and modernity. Drawing from his recent publications: «ዑቡንቱ እና ፑልቶ», «የፕሌቶ ኃጢአት?» and «ዐፍሪቃል», he will explore questions around Africa, technology, and the ways we understand our place in a changing world.
📍 Location: 22 Commet Building (next to Axum Hotel), Office No. 205
🗓️ Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2026

If you missed Seminar 2: "The Honest Machine"? The full session is live on YouTube.
Most tools optimize for effortless speed, but what if instant answers are quietly eroding our capacity to think?
In this session, we confront the questions automation ignores:
• Does frictionless AI eliminate the struggle necessary for real learning?
• Why do core fields like teaching, healing, and leading resist simple automation?
• Can an intentional "forced pause" protect human judgment before it’s too late?
Take these ideas further at our upcoming in-person workshop in Addis Ababa this September. Stay tuned for the date!

If you missed Seminar #2: "The Honest Machine"? The full session is live on YouTube.
Most AI today is optimized for speed: often at the cost of human judgment, agency, and depth. In this second and final session of our AI Re-Entry series, we discussed the core questions:
- What actually makes a machine "honest"?
- How do we design systems that slow us down to think rather than trap us in blind automation?
- Practical frameworks to build tools that augment human reasoning instead of replacing it.

One year of AI conversations!
It’s been a year since we started our AI Meetup, a welcoming space to ask questions, share ideas, challenge perspectives, and connect around AI and its impact on society.
Here are some of the questions that sparked our conversations 👇
• What part of your culture would you want to preserve in the era of AI?
• Who is really learning from whom: humans or AI?
• Can AI ever be truly unbiased?
• Will AI deepen inequality, or help bridge the gap?
• Is “vibe coding” the future of software development?
• In a world where AI can learn everything, is a college degree still worth it?
• What is the greatest change AI will bring to society?
• Can AI innovations designed for digitally underserved communities truly thrive in Ethiopia?
• AI vs. human connection: who gives better relationship advice?
• What should AI agents do next beyond coding?
What AI-related topic should we discuss at our next meetup? Drop your ideas, we would love to hear them!

Tomorrow: Let’s Talk About AI
Seminar 2 is happening tomorrow!
After our first seminar, we’re taking the conversation one step further: What should we build instead?
We’ll be joined again by Dr. Kende Kefale and Dr. Yabebal Fantaye to explore the idea of the “Honest Machine” , AI that helps us think, rather than simply doing things faster.
But this isn’t a lecture. It’s a conversation, and everyone is invited to take part. Whatever you do or whatever your background, bring your questions, ideas, and experiences.
📅 Tomorrow, August 26
🕕 6:00 PM EAT

If AI could do almost anything, what would you want to be really good at as a human?
That’s the question we’re bringing to our next AI Meetup.
Pick one skill. Make your case. Hear what everyone else would choose. You might be surprised by the answers.

Join us tomorrow for Mapping the Trap: Real Conversations About AI and Human Work, an interactive seminar series exploring what happens when AI meets human-facing fields like education, healthcare, management, and beyond.
This is an open space for honest conversation about why human agency can't be automated, how to spot the fake metrics that often shape our everyday work, and what it looks like to build AI that works with people rather than around them.
The session will be joined by two incredible experts in the field: Dr. Kende Kefale, Senior Information Analyst at the University of Cape Town (UCT), and Dr. Yabebal Fantaye, Co-founder of 10 Academy & Tenacious Intelligence.
Share this with someone you know would enjoy being part of the conversation.

New Seminar Series: Mapping the Trap
Real Conversations About AI and Human Work
Instead of the usual hype around "faster tools" and "full automation," we’re launching a brand new, community-driven seminar series to explore what technology is actually doing to human agency, learning, and work.
This isn't a one-way lecture. It’s an interactive space for anyone: builders, managers, marketers, researchers, teachers, health professionals, or curious minds, to share real-world insights and rethink how we build with technology.
Join us alongside two incredible minds:
Dr. Kende Kefale – Senior Information Analyst, University of Cape Town (UCT)
Dr. Yabebal Fantaye – Co-founder, 10 Academy & Tenacious Intelligence
Seminar 1: Why Human-Facing Fields Can't Be Automated with Simple Code
Together, we'll explore why professions built around people demand more than algorithms, and what that means for the future of AI.
💭 A question to think about before you join:
What is the one metric in your job that makes it look like everything is going well, even though the real human goal is being overlooked?
Education. Tech. Health. Management. And beyond.
📅Wednesday, August 5, 2026
🕕 6:00 PM EAT
🎦 Google Meet: http://meet.google.com/xfz-meph-zic
🎟️ Free and open to everyone
Bring your questions, challenge ideas, and share your experiences. And this is just the beginning, the seminar series will be followed by a hands-on workshop where we’ll take the conversations further and learn by doing together.
