Hmmmmm (from what I’ve read so far )this book basically tells you the story of the Ethiopian student movement during Haile Selassie’s time, before the Derg like how students became politically involved, how socialist/Marxist ..maoist erasu ig beach (ideas started shaping them, and how these young people slowly became part of the revolution…. But what I really love is that it doesn’t feel like you’re reading a history book……It feels like she is literally sitting there telling you her story you get to see what these students believed in, what they were fighting for, how passionate and idealistic they were I think I said this beforeee will find the link …and how politics slowly became such a huge part of their lives and alll And then there’s also the women’s side of it, which I find sooo interesting….You get to see women being politically active, rebellious, brave, and involved in the movement, while also seeing the gender dynamics within it( Even the women in the story seem to see things like fashion and caring too much about appearances as distractions from the bigger problems their country was facing) And of course there’s her love story too but even that is connected to her political awakening,…so it doesn’t feel separate from the bigger story. Idk I’m explaining it badly but I’m sooo into this book. I’ll probably write an actual review when I finish because there’s SO much to talk about….

My first-year psych teacher once told me to read Hiwot Tefera’s books and keep writing(cos of some assignment I did lol ) I started this one ages agooo, and I’m completely in love with it I don’t even want it to end( very interesting one like :))

Saw the scariest dream 😭 Me and my cat were walking and we were kinda tired, so I asked someone for a ride. They kept saying no because I had my cat with me, so I decided to just keep walking. Then, all of a sudden, a hidden snake bit me. I started bleeding, but I was still holding my cat and trying to ask people for help, and everyone just kept running away. Then I woke up 😭😭 and now I’m just here thinking, what the hell is going on in my subconscious? Lol. It felt SO real. I literally cried.
