E lo vediamo nella velocità con cui tecnologia, droni, sistemi autonomi, cyber e intelligenza artificiale stanno cambiando il modo stesso di concepire la Difesa. Una tecnologia che non aspetta le nostre procedure. Una parte importante dei futuri equilibri di potere si giocherà proprio sulla capacità di governare questa accelerazione tecnologica, La vera competizione infatti sta nel possedere la tecnologia migliore quanto nel trasformarla più rapidamente in capacità operativa. Per questo nessun Paese può pensare di affrontare da solo le sfide che abbiamo davanti. Servono cooperazione, interoperabilità, capacità industriale, innovazione e, soprattutto, la capacità di trasformare rapidamente la tecnologia in strumenti concreti di sicurezza. Proteggere il mare significa proteggere ciò che attraverso il mare ci rende forti: la nostra sicurezza, la nostra economia, la nostra libertà. Venezia lo aveva capito secoli fa.
