Sometimes Plan A doesn’t work out.
That doesn’t mean you’re out of options. 💙
For Guadalupe, university became difficult to continue. Anxiety also made returning to in-person classes challenging.
Then she found another way to learn.
From home and at her own pace, she started building skills in content creation, project management and digital productivity — and discovered an interest in tech and digital work along the way.
You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going.
Start with something that interests you. Learn a skill. See where it takes you.

Your existing strengths are worth investing in too. 💪

| 4 | Most of us can remember that teacher.
The one who made you believe you could do more.
The one who noticed when you were struggling.
The one who made a subject suddenly interesting.
Or the one who challenged you when you needed it most. 💙
Teachers don’t just teach subjects.
They can shape confidence, curiosity, resilience and the way we see ourselves.
Today, we’re celebrating the people who helped shape generations.

| 6 | A degree can open doors.
But what can you actually do once you walk through them? 👀
The skills employers need are changing quickly, which means your CV shouldn’t only tell people what you studied.
Show them what you can do.
Mention the skills you’ve built.
Share how you’ve used them.
Keep learning alongside your degree — or after it.
Your qualification is part of your story.
Your skills are part of it too.

| 7 | That “closed door” might not be as closed as you think. 👀
Maybe you’re considering:
→ Applying for a job you don’t feel 100% qualified for
→ Switching careers
→ Learning something completely outside your current field
→ Finally starting that course you’ve been putting off
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.
Try something. Learn something. See where it takes you.
With thousands of free courses on Alison, there’s plenty of room to explore.

| 8 | Studying engineering but want to learn beyond your degree? 👀
Meet Abhay, our Featured Learner.
Alongside his engineering studies, he used Alison to learn C++, embedded systems, IoT and microcontroller programming.
That extra knowledge helped him connect software and hardware — and apply what he learned to his academic projects.
Your degree doesn’t have to be the end of your learning.
Sometimes the most useful skills are the ones you choose to learn outside the syllabus.

| 10 | Your first meeting ran over.
Your inbox is exploding.
The Wi-Fi is down.
You forgot your password. Again. 😭
And it’s not even 10 AM.
At this point, you deserve a great cup of coffee. ☕️
Why not learn how to make one?
Our Barista and Coffee Making course is CPD-accredited, free, and takes just 1.5–3 hours to complete.
Because some work problems can’t be solved with coffee…
…but they can be made slightly more bearable with better coffee. 👀

| 14 | You got the job offer. 🎉
Your first instinct: SAY YES.
But wait.
A job offer isn’t only about whether they want you.
It’s also your chance to ask:
• Does the salary work for me?
• What exactly will I be responsible for?
• What are the benefits?
• Is there room to grow?
• Is this actually the role I want?
Take a breath. Ask questions. Negotiate where appropriate.
And if you’re still working towards that offer, sharpen your interview skills with Alison’s free courses:

| 17 | At work, are you secretly doing 5 jobs at once? 😵💫
One minute you’re doing your actual job.
The next you’re a:
🕵️ Investigator
⚖️ Judge
🌍 Translator
🚦 Traffic controller
…and somehow you’re expected to do all of them well.
Wearing too many hats can be exhausting.
Managing that pressure is a skill too — and it’s one you can learn.

Just ask Natasha, Alison’s Featured Learner. 💙
She’s followed her interests across different subjects, building skills she can take into different roles and stages of her career.
Her story is a good reminder:
You can explore as you go.

| 20 | Micromanaging usually starts with good intentions.
You care.
You know what good work looks like.
And sometimes it just feels faster to do it yourself.
But here’s the problem:
If you have to do everything, you’re not really leading.
Great leaders know when to step in — and when to step back.
Giving people room to make decisions, solve problems and take ownership helps them grow and takes some pressure off you.
