TON experienced a major network slowdown lasting nearly two hours yesterday. But what surprised many wasn’t the outage, it was how little attention it received outside projects directly built on TON.
According to recent reports and community observations, the TON ecosystem has been going through significant internal changes. Following the MTONGA period, the TON Foundation reportedly reduced staff, with more senior departures continuing in recent weeks. At the same time, the project has seen few major announcements, events, or ecosystem updates over the past few months.
Questions have also been raised about TON Core. Kirill Emelyanenko, one of the key developers associated with TON after the SEC case, has reportedly left the project, while there has been little public information about Anatoly Makosov’s current role.
Yesterday’s network update added to those concerns. The upgrade reportedly had to be rolled back after issues emerged, delaying its release indefinitely. That has sparked discussion within the community about who is now leading core protocol development, especially as different developers appear to be handling key GitHub contributions.
The ecosystem’s recent GRAM branding has also struggled to generate fresh momentum, leaving some community members questioning TON’s current direction and long-term strategy.

Telegram’s t. me short links briefly stopped working across the globe after the .ME domain registry placed the domain on serverHold over OFAC compliance concerns.
The issue was reportedly triggered after a U.S.-sanctioned ransomware-linked VPN provider listed a t.me channel as one of its contact methods. The registry temporarily suspended the domain while addressing the compliance issue.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov publicly called out the registry, and the service was restored shortly afterward.

The level to watch now is $2.27 resistance. If buying pressure holds through the month, a retest is possible, with room to run toward $3.48. But the usual crypto question applies: is this a real recovery, or just relief before another leg down?
The main risk sits on July 27, when 2.8 million GRAM ($5.04M) is set to unlock, according to Coinglass. Token unlocks have a track record of adding sell pressure, especially if the market walks into them already weak.
Fundamentals, meanwhile, look healthier than price action suggests: address count climbed from 175M in March to 187M in July, the network has processed 3.17B total transactions, and daily activity is running around 3M transactions. July is shaping up to be a race between growing network fundamentals and fresh token supply hitting the market.
