Hey guys, Vadim here! Let me share some sweet moments from my Japan trip. As I was about to leave Hiroshima, I stumbled upon this little Go club. As usual in Japan, all the Go boards were beautiful, and the stones were slate and shell. With only 90 minutes before my bus, I had to hurry—but I still asked for a game. My opponent was a Japanese 5-dan who played in that classic, “proper” Japanese style. Sadly, we didn’t have time to count the score—I had to run to the bus station. The Legacy of Fujita Goro Fujita Goro (1902-1994) was a Japanese 7-dan professional remembered for an incredible piece of Go history. During a trip to Europe in the 1920s, he faced the legendary World Chess Champion Emanuel Lasker—who was already a strong Go player at that time—in a game of Go. Fujita won, despite giving Lasker a 9-stone handicap. To make the feat even more impressive, Lasker was even allowed to confer with his friends during the game!
