When the Game Ends
Some games end early, when one player resigns. The rest go all the way: the two of you run out of moves worth making, and you stop. One pass from each player, and the board is final. Now you count.
Two things have to be settled before any arithmetic starts, and they are the same whatever rules you play by.

The Golden Rule: Corners, Sides, Center
- Building territory in Go is a lot like founding a city: building next to a river provides natural protection. The edges of the Go board work exactly the same way.
- Corners are cheap: You only need 6 stones to surround 9 points of territory in a corner.
- Sides require more effort: Surrounding those exact same 9 points on the side of the board takes 9 stones.

After four days of intense competition, the 46th Mungyeong World Amateur Go Championship has officially come to a close! This year’s event brought together 53 players from 53 different countries.
👑 The Champion: Fu Yu (China)
China's Yu Fu took home the championship trophy with an absolutely flawless 8-0 record! The turning point came on day three, when he defeated Japan's Hyo Ka in a highly anticipated showdown between the only remaining undefeated players. He then secured the title in the final round by defeating South Korea's Kim Hyun-seok by 1.5 points.
"I never expected to achieve such a good result on my first visit to Mungyeong. I'm delighted to have won among such talented players," Yu Fu shared after receiving his trophy and an Amateur 7-dan certificate.
