इरोदोरि वर्कशॉप (Rethink Teacher’s Role: Redesigning our lessons with Instructional Design)
भाग १
जपान फौंडेशन च्या ‘इरोदोरि’ या पाठ्यपुस्तकाबद्दल बरेच ऐकले होते. आज जालताप मध्ये Japan Foundation च्या सहकार्याने त्याबद्दलचे वर्कशॉप साइतो सेन्सेइ शनिवार दिनांक ११ एप्रिल २०२६ ला घेणार आहेत असे कळले. त्यामुळे मी त्या कार्यक्रमाला उपस्थिती लावली.
मी एक तासभर उशिरा गेलो त्यामुळे सुरवातीला काय झाले याबद्दल मला माहिती नाही, पण नंतर शेवट पर्यंत तेथे होतो.
साइतो सेन्सेई यांनी ‘इरोदोरि’ या पाठ्यपुस्तकातील एका धड्याच्या आधारे Instructional Design म्हणजे काय याची प्रात्यक्षिकासह माहिती दिली. त्यात १) शिकवण्यात शिक्षकाचा सहभाग किती असावा? २) Model lesson कसा असावा याचे प्रात्यक्षिक ३) Model lesson आणि तुम्ही जे शिकवता यात कितपत फरक जाणवतो अशी तुलना करायला सांगितली ४) “इरोदोरि” चे FPI (First Principles of ID)च्या सहाय्याने विश्लेषण (analysis), SLA (Second Language Acquisition म्हणजे काय आणि त्याचे आणि FPI चे नाते काय आहे ५) Group discussion: यामध्ये स्वत :च्या शिकवण्यात काय बदल केल्यास चांगले होईल? आणि स्वत:ची शिकवण्याची पद्धत FPI शी ताडून पाहणे हे मुद्दे होते.
‘इरोदोरि’ या पाठ्यपुस्तकातील धडे संभाषणावर आधारित आहेत. एखादा प्रसंग सांगून त्यावर आधारित संभाषण विद्यार्थ्यांना दोनदा किंवा जरूर पडल्यास तीनदा ऐकवायचे. मग त्यावर काही सोपे प्रश्न विचारून ते सोडवून घ्यायचे. नंतर त्या संभाषणाची script वाचून घ्यायची, मग विद्यार्थ्यांना त्या धड्यात आलेल्या grammatical pattern वर काही प्रश्न विचारायचे आणि ते विद्यार्थ्यांना कितपत कळले याचा अंदाज घ्यायचा. यानंतर दिलेल्या संभाषणं सारख्याच विषयावर विद्यार्थ्यांना एकमेकांशी संभाषण करायला सांगायचे. म्हणजे त्याने शिकलेल्या संभाषणाचा तो किती उपयोग करू शकतो हे कळते. या सर्व प्रकारात शिक्षक कोणतीही गोष्ट अगदी तपशीलवार शिकवत नाही. फक्त एखादा शब्द अडला तर तेवढ्यापुरतीच मदत करतो. शिक्षकाचा ‘शिकवण्या’चा वाटा अगदी कमी म्हणजे २० टक्क्यांच्या आसपास असतो. पण विद्यार्थ्यांना ऐकलेल्या आणि नंतर वाचलेल्या संभाषणातून तो स्वत:हून किती आकलन करू शकतो याला जास्त महत्त्व दिले जाते. विद्यार्थ्यांना ‘शिकवून’ समजायला लावण्यापेक्षा त्याला स्वत:ला ऐकलेल्या संभाषणातून शब्दार्थ किंवा व्याकरण याबद्दल स्वत:हून किती आकलन होते यावर भर दिला जातो.
एखादी गोष्ट अगदी खूप वेळा ऐकली तरीही ती काही तासातच ७० ते ८० टक्के विस्मृतीत जाते. त्या ऐवजी ती विद्यार्थ्याने स्वत:हून उच्चारली, तर बराच काळ लक्षात राहते. याचा अर्थ विद्यार्थ्याला विषय चमच्याने न भरवता तो त्याला त्या संभाषणातून कसा स्वत:ला समजावून घेता येईल याला महत्त्व दिले जाते.
या प्रक्रियेत शिक्षकाच्या ‘शिकवण्या’ पेक्षा विद्यार्थ्याचे ‘ शिकण्या’वर भर दिला जातो.
याशिवाय shadowing म्हणजे शिक्षकाने इकडे वाक्य उच्चारायला सुरवात केली त्याचे विद्यार्थ्याने लगेच अनुकरण करत जाणे. यामुळे विद्यार्थ्याची जीभ चांगली वळते आणि उच्चार चांगले होतात. (आपण जशी निरनिराळी स्तोत्रे, रामरक्षा वगैरे जेव्हा प्रत्यक्ष म्हणतो तेव्हा ती पाठ होते, उच्चार स्वच्छ होतात आणि वाणी शुद्ध होते. तसे)
माझ्या मते सध्या ज्या पद्धतीने जपानी भाषा शिकवली जाते ती पद्धत मुख्यत: ‘grammar translation’ पद्धतीवर आधारित आहे. यात व्याकरणावर इतका भर दिला जातो की विद्यार्थ्याला व्याकरण चांगले समजते, पण प्रत्यक्ष बोलण्याची वेळ आली की बोबडी वळते. त्यामुळे त्याचे संभाषण सहज जसे बोलले जाते तसे न होता पाठ्य पुस्तकासारखे (copy book style) होते. कृत्रिम वाटते.
