A police tactical vehicle (rantis) ran over someone wearing an online ride-sharing uniform (ojol) during a protest in front of the DPR/MPR building on Thursday, 29 August 2025. Multiple reports stated that the victim, only 21 years old, has passed away. There are claims that a few other people were also run over, though details remain unconfirmed as this story is still developing. This protest happened following a series of controversial policies by the government, including raising the House of Representative (DPR) members’ wages and allowances, including a staggeringly high Rp50 million/month (US$3,050/month) housing benefit.
