'I am a perfectionist!' is a claim we make to either look cool or to excuse ourselves for undone work. Perfectionism is much more extreme than that. Its goal is zero defects: no faults, no flaws, no failures. It is those of us who want a perfect IELTS/SAT scores, which will then shine brightly on our social media bios. It is those of us who pretend to be living their perfect lives online, but hiding their real scars in shame. It is also those of us who go above and beyond to write perfect posts, keep their homes in perfect order, and wait for a perfect language level before uttering even a word. I can relate to this last bit. Fortunately, I feel I am slowly overcoming this 'flawlessness' obsession. Now, to stay on top of everything, I am perfectly(the word is everywhere) fine to settle for 'good enough'. Writing a new blog post or making a speaking sample?! I am ok with 5 or 6 in the scale from 1 to 10. So long as I don't get cancelled, it gets published. One day, when I write articles for some serious publications or write a book (dreaming has hurt noone😉), I will be more than happy with an 8 or a 9 out of 10. As imperfect beings ourselves, accepting cracks in everything should become our new normal. How else can we let the light in? https://t.me/englishnudge

Fast or slow, you choose! The pace of life has escalated. Want to make it in this world? Then walk fast, talk fast, eat fast, learn fast, work fast. Essentially, live fast, or you'll be outpaced, outshined, or outdone by someone faster. I typed this so fast that I'm out of ideas now. That's exactly the case with anything we do quickly. We check the boxes rapidly. Good for us! But often, we are left with exhausted bodies and minds craving vitality and creativity. Just for the sake of contrast, let's observe slowness and its many manifestations. The Earth we inhabit wasn't created quickly—God chose to take time fashioning it. Our holy scripture wasn't sent all at once—it took 23 years for its full compilation. Our moms didn't bore us in a day; our full development took nine months. Things of value—strong relationships, useful knowledge, great works of art, science, and literature—always take time. So, in your next big endeavor, do you want to take your time or sprint for fast results? The call is yours.

So, let's push our limits and see just how far our skills can go! Got a better idea to enhance our speaking practice? Share it below—I'm all ears!

#Transcript Lately, we often see some foreigners, politicians, public figures, and celebrities openly and blatantly criticizing Uzbekistan, They demean its political and economic structure, spew hatred and abusive words about its people, and label them as downtrodden and backward. They even go so far as to spread lies about its history, claiming it was insignificant. This has seriously upset and enraged many locals. This situation has also pitted Uzbeks against one another, as sadly, there are some who identify as self-hating Uzbeks. Matters were getting worse until recently when the government adopted a law that prohibits individuals with such negative commentary from entering the country for five years. These individuals are also not allowed to own real estate or form any kind of commercial alliances with locals. This has been a very rational move, as it might finally improve Uzbekistan's image on the world arena and change the discourse that revolves around the country. It was due long time ago, but seeing it taking place now gives a ray of hope. https://t.me/englishnudge

Assessing physical maturity is easy, like two plus two. But emotional maturity is complex—it requires real observation and analysis. Here are some time-tested signs of emotional maturity: ✅You become more accepting of your mistakes and have the courage to apologize. ✅You let go of past resentments. The first and often hardest step is forgiving your parents for any perceived wrongs. ✅You learn to take pleasure in small things. ✅You fall in love less easily. In fact, it becomes difficult to even develop a crush on someone. ✅People's opinions of you stop bothering you. You no longer try hard to polish your image to please others. ✅You get better at receiving feedback. Instead of putting on armor to protect yourself, you even take some feedback home for self-improvement. ✅You become a better friend. You stop making yourself the center of every relationship and learn to be vulnerable and open to the vulnerabilities of your friends. Some traces of immaturity still seem to lay dormant in me..How about you?

#bookreview The one YouTuber I consistently listen to is Nouman Ali Khan. His lectures on tafseer, though lengthy, are truly gems—always informative and uplifting. It's obvious that much research goes into every single ayah. The book "Revive Your Heart" offers readers a similar experience. Each chapter investigates an ayah, scrutinizing each word and its meanings, and then connects these meanings to a larger message the author has in mind. In terms of value, the book is brilliant. However, I am disappointed with the delivery. Most, if not all, of the book is poorly edited and feels like a scripted version of NAK's live lectures. If given a choice, I would prefer to spend my time on the lectures rather than the book. The extra layer of energy and enthusiasm in the lectures can easily pull the heartstrings. https://t.me/englishnudge

"When young people turn to Allah, the world submits to them!" - NAK The best way to turn to Allah is through reciting, memorizing, and following His book. If young people make the Qur'an a part of their lifestyle, it will: - Open the gates of knowledge - Refine their character - Make good manners a second nature - Increase their sustenance (rizq) - Bring peace to their homes and hearts - Make kids a source of goodness for their parents - Protect them from all forces of evil True success as adults is not about raising children who make it into Harvard; it is about raising children who can easily make it into Heaven. Teaching them the deen is the surest way to achieve this. How absurd is it to even discuss whether parents should teach the deen to their kids? Why take away the only tool people have to deal with this corrupt world? Why rob them of their future here on Earth and their real life in Hereafter? https://t.me/englishnudge
