During the VC, a demonstration of the Membership Verification Portal was conducted.
The demonstration covered the various functionalities available to individual applicants and office-bearers (Divisional Secretaries, Circle Secretaries and General Secretaries), including:
1. Submission of membership applications by individual applicants.
2. Acceptance or rejection of membership applications by the Divisional Secretary.
3. Subsequent processing and workflow at various levels.
4. Other related functionalities and procedures of the portal.
**Further, the Directorate informed that live testing of the Membership Verification process through APT 2.0 will be conducted next week in two Circles, namely Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.*
The VC provided an opportunity to understand the portal's operational workflow and clarify the processes involved in the forthcoming Membership Verification exercise.

The Department Is Planning to Introduce These 11 Major Changes at the Meeting on 3 November 2026
1.Staff for SPMs: Separate staff will be provided for Aadhaar services, IPPB, and help desks.
2.Discontinuation of Single-Handed SOs: All small Sub Offices (SOs) will become double-handed, and TSO arrangements will be merged.
3.Single DDO for Each District: One Head Post Office will handle salary preparation for the entire district.
4.Abolition of 60,000 GDS Posts: This is the most concerning proposal, as it may mean that no new recruitment will take place.
5.Closure of Urban Branch Offices: Branch Post Offices (BOs) in urban areas will be merged, while new Sub Offices will be opened in newly developed residential colonies.
6.Paperless Offices: The transition to paperless operations will begin with BOs and SOs, followed by Head Post Offices (HOs).
7.Discontinuation of Inspections: From 2027 onwards, inspections of BOs, SOs, and HOs will reportedly be discontinued.
8.Role of Sub-Divisions: Sub-Divisional Offices will focus exclusively on marketing activities.
9.Change in the Designation of IP/ASP: All Sub-Divisional Heads will reportedly be designated as Inspectors of Posts (IPs).
10.Introduction of a New Portal: A new portal will reportedly provide one year's work data and automatically display staff working hours with a single click.
11.Minimum Distance of 3 KM Between BOs: The prescribed distance between Branch Post Offices will reportedly increase from 2.5 km to 3 km, with distances measured using Google Maps.

This is a common error in *Dak Mitra* app -
failed to get version details
It's a server / version sync issue, not phone issue. Try this step-by-step fix:
*Quick Fix (90% works):*
1. *Clear Cache:*
Go to Phone Settings > Apps > Dak Mitra > Storage > Clear Cache & Clear Data
2. *Check Internet & Date/Time:*
Make sure mobile data is ON and Phone Date/Time is set to *Automatic*
3. *Restart App:*
Close the error > Turn ON Flight Mode for 10 sec > Turn OFF > Open Dak Mitra again5 089
The primary justification advanced by the Department was that RMS officials are reluctant to accept LSG and HSG promotions due to the possibility of transfers to other stations.
Our representatives strongly contested this reasoning and highlighted the serious consequences that such a merger could have on:
The existing independent cadre structure.
Promotional avenues and career progression.
Seniority and service conditions.
The distinct nature of duties and responsibilities.
The future prospects of Sorting Assistants and other affected employees.
The staff side firmly conveyed that genuine difficulties relating to promotions and transfers should be addressed through appropriate administrative measures rather than by resorting to an unwanted merger of cadres.
We made it clear that the existing identity, cadre structure and promotional rights of Sorting Assistants must be protected.
5. CONCLUSION AND FURTHER COURSE OF ACTION
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Member (Personnel) requested the staff-side representatives to submit their detailed suggestions, views and objections on the proposals discussed.
FNPO representatives reiterated their strong commitment to protecting the interests of postal employees and safeguarding the existing postal network and cadre structure.
FNPO firmly opposes:
Unjustified rationalisation and reduction of Head Offices.
Closure of Sub Offices without proper assessment of public requirements.
Establishment reviews based on incomplete APT 2.0 data.
Merger of PA (CO/RO), Sorting Assistant and PA (PO) cadres.
Any restructuring that adversely affects the promotional avenues, seniority and service conditions of postal employees.
All Circle Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries and CHQ Office Bearers are requested to carefully examine these proposals, discuss their implications at their respective levels and forward their valuable suggestions and objections to CHQ at the earliest.
The inputs received from the Circle and Divisional Unions will help FNPO formulate a comprehensive and effective response to the Directorate.
Our stand remains firm: The interests of employees, the identity of cadres and the public service responsibilities of the Department of Posts must not be compromised in the name of rationalisation and restructuring.
LET US STAND UNITED TO PROTECT OUR CADRES, OUR PROMOTIONAL AVENUES AND THE POSTAL NETWORK.
With Unity and Solidarity,
FNPO – Federal National Postal Organisation
