Electronic Intifada's Asa Winstanley reports: While @Pal_action is fighting for its life against proscription, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign threatens its branches with consequences if they support them. I’ve obtained an internal PSC email which shows its director Ben Jamal has ordered his branches: “We will not allow any branch to jeopardise the organisation … Please DO NOT share your own statements or comment on this issue… Branches SHOULD NOT be signing public statements or open letters on this or any other issue… Putting out content framed such as ‘we are all Palestine Action’ which may be legal to say now but could be illegal by next week, puts your members and followers at risk” Samidoun's commentary: After becoming the US/Canada equivalent of this, this is the least surprising memo we've ever seen. There's nothing unique about this, unfortunately -- it's the standard large Western imperialist based NGO approach to designations, proscriptions and political bans. An enormous amount of time and energy is spent on isolating groups subjected to such measures, and even on trying to do so with the actual resistance leading the movement, as they are also designated & proscribed, in the apparent belief that this provides some form of protection. There is no shortage of "wise" and "smart" advice about how you should never: attend international events if someone or a group designated by the US/Canada/UK/EU will be there; speak to people from such groups as it may be "coordination"; doing otherwise is "putting ppl at risk." People will even hold briefings about how to engage in compliance management most efficiently, and re-label this a service to the movement. Never mind all the advice about how you should never mourn Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, let alone Mohammed Deif. This isn't a matter of alienating allies at a dangerous time, when the proscription of @Pal_action requires the organizing of all to fight. It's that every time the reaction is as described above, the imperialist powers learn that surely, they can get away with it. If we don't rally - for real, even w/ risks - behind those who are targeted, and especially @Pal_action w/ its leadership in direct action materially resisting the Zionist-imperialist war machine, we encourage the state to do this MORE. So let's learn the lesson this time & act.

🇮🇷| FULL speech by Leader of Iran, Imam Khamenei: “In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Greetings and salutations to the dear and noble people of Iran. First, I honor the memory of the precious martyrs of the recent events—our martyred commanders and scientists—who were truly valuable assets to the Islamic Republic. They served greatly and are now, God willing, receiving divine rewards in the presence of the Almighty. I feel it necessary to offer several congratulations to the noble people of Iran: 1. Victory over the false Zionist regime. This regime, with all its noise and claims, was nearly crushed under the blows of the Islamic Republic. The thought that such strikes could come from Iran had never occurred to them, but it happened. We thank God for helping our armed forces, who were able to bypass their advanced multilayered defense systems and flatten many of their urban and military areas with our advanced weaponry. This is one of God’s greatest blessings and proves that any aggression against Iran comes at a heavy cost for the aggressor. This victory belongs to our armed forces and our people who raised, supported, and empowered them. 2. Victory over the American regime. The U.S. entered the war directly, fearing that the Zionist regime would otherwise be destroyed. Yet, it gained nothing from this war. They attacked our nuclear sites—which in itself is subject to international legal action—but failed to achieve anything significant. The U.S. President exaggerated events to cover up their failure, which was evident to anyone listening. In response, Iran delivered a heavy blow to one of America’s key bases in the region—al-Udeid Air Base—and inflicted damage. The same media that exaggerated the U.S. attack tried to downplay Iran’s response, but it was a significant event. Iran’s capability to strike major U.S. targets in the region is no small matter, and it can be repeated if provoked. 3. Unity of the Iranian people. An extraordinary unity has emerged among Iran’s nearly 90 million people. United in word and deed, the people stood side by side, expressed solidarity, and supported the armed forces. Iran showed its strength and unity—something the world should recognize. And now, a key point: The U.S. President recently said Iran must “surrender.” This is no longer about uranium enrichment or nuclear programs—it’s about demanding Iran’s complete capitulation. Such a demand is ridiculous. A country with Iran’s history, culture, and steely national resolve will never surrender. Those who know the Iranian people understand that this is an insult. For decades, the U.S. has opposed Iran using various pretexts: human rights, democracy, women’s rights, nuclear enrichment, missiles—you name it. But in truth, they want nothing short of Iran’s surrender. Previous U.S. leaders hid this demand behind diplomatic language. This one revealed it outright. The Iranian people must understand that America’s real issue is that it refuses to accept an independent, sovereign Iran. But surrender will never happen. Never. Iran is a powerful nation with a deep civilization, whose cultural and historical wealth surpasses that of the U.S. The expectation that Iran would submit is an absurdity that wise people will only laugh at. The Iranian people are and will remain honorable and victorious. May God keep this nation under His protection with dignity and honor, raise the ranks of our late great Imam, and may the Imam Mahdi (may our souls be sacrificed for him) be pleased with this nation and grant it divine assistance. Nizar Banat: The Martyr of Truth On the fourth anniversary of his martyrdom, we honor the Palestinian activist and thinker who was murdered in 2021 during a violent raid by PA security forces at his home in al-Khalil. His death remains a stark reminder of the price he paid for defending truth against normalization, sectarianism, and defeatism. Nizar Banat’s martyrdom epitomizes unwavering heroism and enduring resistance in the pursuit of Palestinian liberation. His life and sacrifice affirm that the struggle against internal betrayal and external oppression demands uncompromising resistance and steadfast unity. Banat dedicated his life to defending the Palestinian cause against reactionary forces aligned with regimes that support the Zionist agenda. He relentlessly exposed elements within Palestinian society he described as "compradors of idiocy, compradors of NGOs, compradors of sectarian strife, and compradors of defeatist thought." His famous declaration—"Either you are a zionist or you are not a zionist"—captures his belief that any compromise weakens the fight for freedom. His clear, fearless language continues to inspire those who pursue Palestinian liberation. Defending the Axis of Resistance Banat rooted his vision in the strength of the Axis of Resistance, uniting Palestine with key allies—Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah—to counter Western imperialist and Zionist aggression. He stressed that genuine alliances are essential to preserve the integrity of armed resistance, warning that a breakdown in unity would render the struggle futile. As he remarked, "First we destroy our relationship with Syria, then Iran, and then we go like ‘well we cannot defeat Israel through war, war is futile and destructive, and no one supports us.’" Syria, once a vital bulwark against Zionism, fell in December 2024 following a US-Zionist-Turkish-Qatari coup that ousted its pro-resistance leadership and installed former al-Qaeda leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani (now rebranded as HTS)—a development Banat would have unequivocally condemned. Fervently defending Iran's pivotal role, Banat stated, "Iran is the only country in the world that has a permanent clause in its budget, from the budget of Iranian people’s bread, that pledges support to the Palestinian revolution, regardless of its orientation: whether it was Fatah, the PFLP, the communists, anyone! It never intervened in our ideological conceptions of resistance." He further challenged sectarianists and normalizers by asking, "They say that Iran exploits the Palestinian cause to spread Shiism. If so, why would it bother with 42 years of sanctions? Several hundred million dollars confiscated, and yet it still takes from its people’s food to support and sustain Palestinian resistance." Banat also extended unwavering support to Hezbollah. Martyred Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah described him as "a bold, brave, and oppressed fighter, thinker, and martyr… bold, brave, clear, and strong in his positions on resistance and Palestine until the moment of his martyrdom."
