An Inverted Duty Structure exists when: GST on inputs (raw materials) > GST on output (finished product) This means the business pays more GST while purchasing inputs than it collects while selling the final product. What is Input Tax Credit (ITC)? ITC is the credit a business gets for the GST it has already paid on its purchases (inputs). This credit can be used to pay GST on its sales (outputs). Correlation between IDS and ITC Under an inverted duty structure: A business accumulates more ITC because it pays higher GST on inputs.
