Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar pointed at the U.S. as the world's second-largest emitter, contrasting Paris, where AC is rare, with U.S. cities running it in nearly 90% of homes. It came after Americans mocked France for barely using AC as temperatures topped 40°C, sending thousands to hospitals and locals diving into rivers and taping foil over their windows to cope.
