China’s central bank will issue four commemorative coins from August 17 to mark the 100th birth anniversary of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The series includes one 1-yuan circulation coin, two gold coins and one silver coin — all legal tender in China. The 1-yuan coin will have a mintage of 10 million pieces and feature Jiang’s portrait alongside the dates “1926–2026.” The gold and silver coins will carry portraits or photographs highlighting different stages of Jiang’s life — from his university graduation to his leadership years. Jiang, who led China during a major period of economic expansion and global integration, died in 2022 at the age of 96.
