A pantograph collector is a device that is used in electric locomotives and electric multiple units to collect power from overhead wires (catenary) or third rails. It is a mechanical linkage that consists of multiple arms or bars, arranged in a parallelogram shape. The pantograph collector is attached to the roof of the locomotive or unit and is raised or lowered by a motor or hydraulic system.
