Tenant Farmers Left Out of Support Systems – Telangana Study(Tenant Farmers’ Recognition Struggle Committee)
What the Study Found
A 2026 survey of 1,816 tenant farmers in 57 villages across 22 districts of Telangana.
Tenants grow the crop but have no formal recognition, so they miss key government benefits.
Main gaps: subsidised fertiliser, MSP procurement, disaster relief and crop loans.
Highlighting these issues, the committee has urged the Telangana government to implement the 2011 Land Licensed Cultivators Act and formally recognise tenant farmers to ensure direct access to welfare and agricultural support systems.
