Both the Election Commissioners and the Chief Election Commissioner have unanimously approved: ‣ SIR Orders for Bihar ‣ SIR Orders for Assam ‣ SIR Orders for 12 States/UTs ‣ SIR Orders for 19 States/UTs

The approved SIR orders include the Declaration Form to be submitted along with Form 6 for new voters (to reduce paperwork and ease the process for citizens). This is in line with Section 21(3) of the RP Act 1950 and has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has made it clear that adding any separate UPI charge or surcharge on customers will be a criminal offence. The Centre is working with banks and payment aggregators to ensure the cost is not passed on to users. Compliance will be monitored daily.
