Let's get ready for PPI today.
The July 15 PPI was -0.3% against a 0% forecast with 0.6% prior. That's a massive cold miss. Gold's reaction: nothing. It continued grinding sideways and lower through late July before eventually breaking out in early August.
The PPI print was irrelevant. What triggered the actual breakout was the Hormuz deal collapse + NFP -23K landing in sequence.
NFP -23K with another -103K in revisions means the Fed cannot hike regardless of what PPI prints. Markets know this. So PPI becomes noise.

The old “CPI beat = Gold sell-off” rule is becoming less reliable.
With a weakening labour market, sticky inflation and elevated oil prices, the Fed is increasingly trapped between inflation and growth.
🎯 Core CPI MoM is the key:
🟢 ≤0.1% → Bullish Gold
🟡 0.2% → Neutral
🔴 ≥0.3% → Bearish Gold initially
The real reaction will come through Fed expectations and Treasury yields, not simply the headline CPI number.

The Fed held rates steady, but the real story was the largest dissent since 2016 and Kevin Warsh's controversial communication.
His comment, *"I asked for a good family fight and I got one,"* was intended to signal a hawkish Fed without actually hiking. Instead, markets questioned the Fed's credibility.
📈 30Y Treasury yield surged to 5.23% — the highest level in 19 years.
