Cerro Negro, Nicaragua 🇳🇮
Cerro Negro (The Black Hill) is Central America’s youngest volcano, and possibly the most fun to climb!
The way down is the most exciting part. One path is made of smooth volcanic sand instead of coarse rocky terrain. It is too steep to climb but perfect for descent. It takes less than a couple of minutes to run down the slope, and thrill seekers “volcano-board” to the base on wooden sleds. The path can also provide a slow, casual walk for those who just want to take in the scenery.
📍Location: in the Cordillera de los Maribios mountain range in Nicaragua, about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the village of Malpaisillo

| 2 | Shaki Waterfall, Shaki, Armenia 🇦🇲
After visiting hours, this picturesque waterfall is essentially turned "off" to be used for hydroelectric power.
Shaki waterfall is a beautiful spot, where cascades of water plunge 60 feet down over solidified basalt lava flows. The waterfall was enjoyed much like any other natural attraction until the 1990s, when someone built a small hydroelectric generator nearby and began diverting most of the water from upstream to generate electricity.
📍Location: extremely close to the town of Sisian

| 6 | Golubac Fortress, Golubac, Serbia 🇷🇸
This 14th century castle withstood years of battle but is now sliding off the hills into the Danube.

| 9 | The Discovery Tree, Big Trees, California 🇺🇸
California's longest-running tourist attraction is a stump.
In 1852 a Hunter, Augustus T.. Dowd, was tracking a large grizzly bear when he discovered something more immense, a Giant Sequoia tree. In 1853, the tree was cut down and stripped of its bark, so it could be transported and put on exhibition.
Since there were no saws large enough to cut through a tree of that size, a group of five men spent 22 days boring through the tree with augers. The tree was over 25 feet in diameter, 280 feet tall, and 1,244 years old when felled. The stump was used as a dance floor, a bar, and even a two-lane bowling alley. Tourists flocked to see the immense stump and the other enormous sequoias, known as the Calaveras Big Trees. Some of those early visitors carved their initials in the trunk, many of which are visible today.
